I've been playing with a headset, but only really listening in... I'm not sure if mine is working properly... I never get a reply when I say something (yes I'm pressing L3 to talk )... oh no, tell a lie someone said my voice was really low. My mic input is on '5' (the highest). These bluetooth headsets... I imagine they'd have difficulty picking up ones voice with the mic bit being stuck by you ear.. or is mine simply broke?

Just in case you didn't know or for anyone else... the blue coloured servers (usually with the Sony prefix) are ranked servers. Don't forget to change the default region filter to show 'All' regions if you want to view even more servers. Best to filter the preferred gametype you want to play to otherwise your list will be huge.

What are the controls like? are they fully customisable? I'm a lefty so I need southpaw controls.

You can reverse/swap the analog sticks.

that first time that you hear the missile lock signal, you fire chaff then dive down under a bridge with cannon fire blazing around your ears, missile lock signal sounds off again so you wait till the last second, spin your warhawk so that the missile flies straight past, then you continue that spin into an upwards cork screw, come down behind the person just on your arse, lock on with your own missiles and blow the bast out of the skies .....

needless to say I likes the game

motion controls suck though (at least until I put more practise into them)

Putting mic input on 5 leads to all sorts of distortion/feedback. Leaving it on 3 is best.

So when I test the input in the Accessory settings I should see the peak meter...well, peak into the red? Coz on 5 I'm only getting several yellow bars of peak meter

I'm getting the same as you on 5.

When I can actually get into a game I really like this. Very Battlefieldy - with worse on-foot combat, amazingly - but the vehicles and turrets are a lot of fun to play and make up for the shortcomings there.

The Warhawks in particular are brilliant, and I really like the stick controls. The way that one handles the flying and the other does flips allows for an amazing amount of maneuverability to an extent that I've never seen in in-game aircraft. They stay just the right side of arcadey with the controls to let you go a bit nuts and not be punished if your corkscrew through an archway doesn't quite come off. It makes for brilliant dogfights between two players who know what they're doing.

The way that you can seamlessly switch to a hover mode is genius, as well. I was attacking a base and bombed them as a flew overhead, and then span around to rise up from behind a rock a few seconds later and machine gun their infantry a bit. Inevitably I couldn't get away fast enough from the rocket that came my way but it was fun while it lasted.

I wouldn't buy it as a retail game but it's well worth ?20.

well, I can get it on red whether it's on 1 or 5! Resistance on 5 is ear bleeding! Might be different for different sets. I'm pretty sure there's a thread on here noting the benefits of keeping it on 3.

Worrying. My headset must be gashed. Never really used it.. except for a bit of Tiger Woods 07. It's one of them Jabra 125 that comes with Warhawk too. Shice.

I have a Sony Ericsson, it's not without its fair share of problems too! I'd be happy with something similar to 360 including plugging it into the controller. Everyone reading from the same page etc.

I think that's the problem when using bluetooth though...

You get the advantage of being able to use any headset you want but with that there is always going to be complications.

Me too. Sony reckon their new Eye toy will do the job, hope they don't leave it at that. They'll probably let the Jabra be their BT headset though. Reckon they'll be palmed off with that future PSN Socom too.
