Cheers. I hope so too, because I'm also completely clueless on the stance, style and gestures question.

Most people skate regular with left foot forward, right foot forward is goofy/fakie. I'm guessing about the gestures set but the dpad has some on it.

Simple question really - I have no idea how I should have it setup, can I set it up one way and then change it again at some point in the future (Perhaps when I get a new board) should I feel the need?

Ta.
Yeah u can at any point in the game:
change the steering on your trucks so its looser (turn quick) or stiffer (turn slow),
change your stance (although you might want to stay with Goofy as I changed mine to regular & had to relearn the tricks I liked doing),
change your wheel hardness so they're softer (for grip) or harder (for slides which includes nose/blunt slides).

You can buy & change your decks but you wont get any better/worse performance out of it it'll just look different.

Guestures & style is just about how u want your dude to react & whether you want him looking like a homey, a rocker or a punk & doesnt really make any difference.

Excellent, thanks. I have the basics down, but I'm really struggling to string things together (At the second 'area' at the moment, the school) to make half decent lines. Still, I can tell it just needs a little practise and patience, which is the sign of a good game.

I've just checked out the top rated videos on the PSN and pretty much all of them involve the most violent **** ups they can get. There is a genuinely cool skatey one on there, but I'm not sure how to find the link from within the game to the website URL.

I can see this being a game of pad destruction, you finally get the perfect line and something just wonders into the middle of it throwing it all away >_<

Just to confirm that the framerate dips are apparent still in the full PS3 version. It's weird though, it doesn't seem like traditional slowdown so much as a hitch when the trick/line multipliers are displayed. Can be a little off-putting though.

Has anyone uploaded any videos from the PS3 version yet? There doesn't seem to be any gamertag linking shenanigans (One of the few benefits of the Sony architecture I guess), so I assume you just add a replay to your shared media and it's there? I'll try it tonight, even it it means me looking an ass.

This game exudes confidence and cockiness. From the moment I started it up, the music, intro, presentation and everything just said in a big confident voice "I'M REALLY GOOD, YOU'RE GOING TO LIKE ME".

Playing confirmed this. Whoever said it was a bit like Crackdown on a skateboard, great summary. Same free, airy, do what you like feel to it. I can see myself putting the hours into this.

That intro is fantastic. I can't believe they went out of their way to actually justify the create-a-skater thing.

LOL! Yeah, i thought that was a lovely touch, and some great over-acting shenanigans too!

Really enjoying this game, so refreshing to play. I do have a few small gripes (manly, not being able to get off the board, and the sheer amount of stairs/steps/kurbs when trying to explore areas), but none of them are enough to put me off playing the game.

Seems most of us here are not that interested in the "game" though, and simply enjoying seeing what we can do without any pressure. My fave thing to do is just skate along and then ollie into a grind - its just so satisfying!

I realised yesterday I hadn't even finished the tutorials cos of all the pissing about I'd been doing ><

Once that was done and I had the importance of the transition push down it was a bit better

Had some quick games with Charles last night and I seem to be having trouble instigating my ollie in time - more practice required.

It's kind of sad to admit, but the only reason I wanted to get this game (Given the fact that I'm neither a skater or a gamer with an interest in skating games) is because of how it all sounds. Weird, isn't it? To be honest I could happily play this without the soundtrack playing, and just have the ambient noise and sound effects. So therapeutic.

This is such a complete package. Stunning. I've completed 95% of the career and am doing ok in the online ranking (9000). Have any of you watched the credits? Lots of cool motion capture behind the scenes stuff and some great skating. And one of the skaters is playing the game and says "No way.... this is more real than... real life". And that stupidly mentalist big air ramp from the Xgames arena. Some friends were playing on Friday night and said "no one actually does jumps that big on a skateboard though" - watch the credits.....

I know what you mean about the sounds. All the little clickety clack and swish and scrape and skid noises.

I'm so impressed.

And can I just say, try ollying on to a grind - before you land the grind simply pull the right stick back into the 6oclock position. Skid along on the back edge like that and then push the left stick to the left or right depending on which side of the object you are on (away from the object). You do this superb looking slow twist before dropping off. Damn cool and so simple.

Yeah I love the cleaness of sound when you're riding on different surfaces or when u crack an ollie, or the farting sound as your wheels slide & the different grinding noises too.
Its got the best soundtrack aswell though. None of this Blink 182 style of crap that you got with 'other' skate games, more classics.

The great thing is that there's so much freedom. You could take up a challenge or just skate around for hrs (thats what I do most of the time), you could skate the usual stuff like a block/rail/stairs or get creative & look for obscure stuff that you would even think you'd be able to skate, but you can!. The amount of fun I've had just sessioning a wall trying to wall ride past a parked car, or pulling a slappy grind on those yellow parking space curbs, or pissing about on a bank it's just great.

And when I do a spot challenge I really want to get it right so it looks good, which then leads to me saving my replay.

I think I'm gonna write to EA to congratulate them on producing the 1st game in yrs that I just cannot put down. I think EA need a bit of encouragement at the mo.

Already posted a while ago in the videos thread, but here's Jake Brown getting owned (and getting up!) on the mega ramp...
