Yeah, I had heard it was coming out on 12th October too; Play and Amazon changed their dates also but low and behold, doing my shopping in Tesco's on Saturday and there it was...expensive shop that one with that and Halo 3

Well, got this on Friday and caned it all weekend. What a boss game. How big is the city for a start? Absolutely massive. I love just cruising around a finding cool little spots and then following the music and finding even more spots.
The proper own-the-spot challenges are ace and the rest of the career-type stuff is just a lot more enjoyable than similar challenges in THPS.

It's truly astonishing how they've actually managed to capture the essence of skateboarding, without going overboard and making it all "extreme". Fantastic stuff. I'll add y'all to my friends list (my tag: the ch33se) for some online because I've only got round to playine one game online so far, and I can see it's going to be ace.

same as you loving this but I find myself getting frustrated with some of the challenges, for instance the thrasher 'break 4 bones' challenge.
No instruction just a street with an orange arrow at the end of it.
I spent 30 mins just trying to figure how to break my bones, gave up in the end.
          Anyone done this yet?
Did break the game though, went so far in the air just went into a black hole!!

Was playing this for a bit last night and think its utterly superb. But I got to a point where I was having a bit of difficulty and I wondered if anyone could offer any tips? Any body got any thoughts about creating good lines? How does it work? I was trying to string some stuff together last night but the bar kept going down so fast....

i find i'm much better when just messing around. when i actually try to plan something or have to do a challenge i become rubbish, and it starts to get a bit frustrating.

the first time i did the library grind the rails competition, i just totally missed all of them. just jumping over them constatntly without ever landing on them. but just wandering around i can do a few nice little things easily.

i havent looked at the online stuff yet. didnt really want to just jump in with randoms, and i'm not too fussed about the more competetive side of things. i just like lazily gliding around.

I was lucky and got that first try with 5 bones broken, just skated down the hill towards the big arrow then ollied into an oncoming car.

Reminds me of similar goals in Tony Hawks P8, those were almost random it seems with the number of broken bones.

I find that grinding is the easiest way to link tricks. It's far easier than linking them with a manual. (the link ends when all 4 wheels touch down) Unless there's a handy bowl for air tricks, in which case it's pretty easy to keep the multiplier high.

So while grinding, just do fliptrick after fliptick landing into grind each time.

not being able to get off the board is starting to get a bit of a bugger when you need to climb up onto certain items

Oh man had a play on the megaramp on the x-games level yesterday - I could fanny about with that all day absolutely tops we found a great big hill too which we spent a while tearing down/off.

I think I have to agree the pissing about in this game is more fun than the challenges (not that I've tried a lot of them yet mind).

Same here mate. I played it last night just messing about for waaaaay too long & had to get up at 5am for work! Boy was I fooked this morning!

I do try to find lines but, I dunno how others are going about it, but I'm trying to do more realistic tricks rather than the grind flip grind flip manual THPS combo button bashing style of things. Although that does sometimes happen by accident when I'm trying to pop out of a grind half way down the rail/block. I've just got to remember to tap sideways with the L stick as I pop out.
Pumping on tranny (he, he!) is a bit hard to get to grips with because I dont know if I'm doing it right, & it gets complicated pumping with the L stick just before grabbing & rotating. I think I'm doing it properly: its push forward with L stick while traveling down the ramp right? The street tricks I have pretty much sorted but I really want to get the vert side dialled now too.

Wondering around has led to some great replays that were worth saving I have to say. I put a fairly decent run together on 1 grind challenge (near the pool comp area) but the best part of the run was my tre flip bs nosegrind which went for ages down this hilled block.
And while I was just wondering thru the alleyways I found a small bump with a wheelie bin next to it & pulled the smoothest flip bs smith ever!

Anyone pulled the Gonz Flip yet?

Just be real delicate with your thumb & practice manuals on the flat 1st. Then when youve got it dialled try the ollie manual stuff because you'll know how much to ease back on the stick. When it comes to flipping out of a manual u need to flick all the way down, then up when in a manual or all the way up, then down when in a nose manual

After what seems an age waiting for this I'm finally going to get going in a few moments. I'm OK with most of the things (Played the demo), but reading the manual it mentions that you can tweak your board setup when you create your skater. Simple question really - I have no idea how I should have it setup, can I set it up one way and then change it again at some point in the future (Perhaps when I get a new board) should I feel the need?

                              Ta.

Should be able to, I've changed the build of my character after the editor stretched the picture.
