Regarding EXP / Levelling up online...

Is it : Take part in one ranked match equals +1 exp point? Hence the get to level 10 or play 10 ranked matches achievement?

Well, I've played 12 matchmade games (24 games in total), and I have 9 EXP. So... no. Not sure how it's worked out tbh.

Likewise, it looks like you've played 3 matchmade games and have 2 EXP - http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Halo3/De...?player=AdCook

        1 win = 1 Exp point

At least that's how it was in the Beta, I've not even looked at my stats yet on this.

I've only won 1 game though, so it must be based on other things too?

It is 1 XP per Matchmade (not just ranked, but social too) game won

Another thought. Game length is becoming more of a common talking point in this generation.

Halo 3 is a good example of how to get the arc and the pacing right. It took me 9-10 hours (taking my time) to finish it... no longer than Gears of War really, but the experience felt much more enjoyable due to the fact it didn't feel like a 12-15 hour game cut at the 6 hour mark. Apart from the penultimate level (which was a mess and I can't believe got through playtesting), the rest of them were weighted properly to keep momentum, interest and sense of progression balanced.

Sounds easy, but when you look at the majority (as in 90%+) of games within a similar timeframe over the last couple of years, they feel like longer games (in terms of unfolding) cleaved.

Games are getting shorter and films are getting longer. Strange that.
I've got another mission or 2 to go I think, I've had no qualms with the game feeling short at all, some of the missions seem to go on forever.

It depends how you play I guess. I like taking my time inside the environment when you're not being pushed along by a significant plot point.

What I don't get in terms of time taken to finish HS gets marked down for being short but Halo 3 is awesome because its too short ?

Bugger, just realised that my Limited Edition was supposed to come with a bonus disc. It didn't. Got it from Gamestation this morning and it wasn't sealed. Where do you guys think I stand on this one?
                      My word against theirs etc..

What's HS? It totally depends on the game. In my mind, the problem is not what length a game is but whether it feels short. That's more about the build and progression than the actual hour length.

Finally got past that hole I was stuck in and am getting to grips with it a bit more. Well, was. The missus wanted to watch some parenting show so booted off now. And away for the next two days. Bad timing.

But when I get back, I'd love to have a go at multiplayer so I hope y'all will let a noob play.

There have been some truly awesome moments in this, I wasn't too excited about the campaign side of things. But there have been some truly stand out moments.

I had a good understanding of what you need to do to take a scarab tank down after the first 2 encounters, but when I came to the 3 time, where there were 2 of them I instinctively jumped in the passenger seat of a hornet, who carried me over to a scarab (not scripted) where I base jumped out and ran straight to the core and destroyed it, whilist narrowly escaping in a warthog that had been having a fight near by.

Freaking Awesome, I felt like a proper super solider doing that first time. Classic gaming moment for me

Not trolling just wonder if its better that you want a game to be longer as that would mean you wanted more
                              OT sorry

That's true for some games. The vast majority I play usually leave me somewhat empty at the end of them though. It's less about length as it is about pacing and adjusting content to fit the size.

I haven't played Heavenly Sword so I can't really comment on it, though I do see how it must grate some to see people criticise that game when (from what I've read) Halo 3's campaign length has been let off the hook relatively in reviews so far.
