just popped this in for a first spin

love the handling, love the graphics, as mentioned bikes will take a bit of getting used to but god the menus at the front are ugly and confusing (is this an age thing though ?).

Just picked this up from Costco ?35, had to ask for it from the stock room as it's not put on display until tomorrow obviously.

I really like this, as someone else already said the opening movie is really good with a great track from the Prodigy. My initials feelings are all very positive, it seems to play really well, albeit very different from the more realistic Forza. The bikes are great fun and add a really nice dimension and variety to the racing, the bikes can go through gaps the cars can't which is great for aqueezing past and overtakin. The game just feels really polished, PGR3 was a great launch title and nearly 2 years on this really shows how a good game can be improved subtly but still very noticably. The colours and graphical crispness look fantastic on my big TV

hooray, another website that wont accept me to add to the ea skate one.

what am i supposed to do?
i can sign in to the pgr nations site using that Windows Live ID thing, but it says no gamertag linked, but when i click the 'my gamercard' box to get to the xbox site it wont accept me....isnt it suppossed to be the same Windows Live ID? i dont understand at all.

It is supposed to be the same.

Not sure why you're having trouble as I didn't even need to log in to the website first. I started playing PGR4 and then uploaded some stuff almost straight away. Went to the site and there it was when I logged in.

Not much help I know - have you tried uploading anything from the 360?

Yeah, the menus and general presentation are indeed ugly, especially compared to PGR3's, and certaibly don't have the same polish as the rest of the game.

Sad to say I've already began tiring somewhat of Career mode largely because 75% of the courses are set at night/dusk/dawn and, I don't know if it's because I'm playing on an LCD TV, but I regularly have difficulty making out where the race track is ahead of me. On a more positive note, I played some team ranked multiplayer last night and it was excellent, extremely frantic and bloody good fun and I can see the game surpassing PGR3 in terms of multiplayer goodness.

On the contrary I'm loving career mode and have put arcade mode on hold whilst I blast it. Finished a major in 1st last night (they're bloody hard) and started using the bikes a bit more which was great fun - Any game where the AI flies overhead with engine roaring needs to be sampled

Gotham Career has seen most of my time, wanna get the decent stuff unlocked before hitting up the Platinum Arcade run.

Does this have two player online splitscreen play ala PGR 2?

loving this (menu's aside), just feels so polished and really like a devs second crack at a machine.

the bikes really started to click when i realised they weren't cars and i had to take a different line !

dunno if its a cheat but really easy to get 5 stars on a bike by snaking it down a straight.

hands out achievements like confetti too early on

the menu's were a bit confusing at the start , but it makes more sense (reading the manual for once wasn't so bad...)
The racing is great fun, the tracks I've seen so far are truly amazing !!

did I see it correct ? only 3 garages in this game ? .... I've only seen the first garage yet, but it's small and I can only hope the other ones are big and there will be more then 3 ..... I loved that part in PGR3 , buying a new shiny car, putting it in a garage and walk around the garage to see all the cars...

I played some ranked matches last night, mainly with americans but there were a few Engrish on as well. We started racing but then played cat and mouse....such a good laugh, 2 teams of 4, 3 cats in Mclaren F1's andf 1 mouse in a mini, first mouse over the line wins. Played on the Brooklyn bridge tack, at one point we had a Mini being boosted from behind going accross the bridge at over 150mph up in the air on the bonnet of the Maclaren

Mines been eaten by postal strike so while I wait for Saturday some questions.......

Whats it like with the wheel? Is it any better than 3 with forcefeedback, worth sticking with or should I just pack it back up again (as got it ready this morning)

Bikes - Can you disable them online for races ie just have cars or just bikes in a racke?

It does. Has an achievement specifically set aside for splitscreen gaming too.

I think there are 5 garages in all. The later ones are quite big, include showrooms where you can examine your trophies and, if you enter them while connected to Xbox Live, the walls will be decorated with the most popular in-game photos taken by other players.

From what I've played, this is probably going to end up being my racing game of the year. Everything feels just so polished and perfected. Gels much better than PGR 3 structurally in the way everything is brought together - perhaps it's because I was non-plussed by the last game, but I'm a lot more impressed by the end product than I thought I would be.

I'm loving this. Its definitely put the fun back in to the concept which seemed to be missing in PGR3.
