The Orange Box (PC/PS3/360)

It was someone from IGN who mentioned that. I thought it was common knowledge that Valve had worked on a 360 specific port - the Xbox version was mostly a test case to see if they could port Source over to a console internally easily.
Soi: Apologies earlier. It's a first-play thread of a HL2 port and I'm a HL2 fan. Anal retentiveness is a given.

There are some youtube vids of original Half Life 2 being played...360 version/orange box.
Looks like the PC version with HDR and all that
IGN are a buncha spaktards.
The game is wingin' its way to me now.should have it tomorow and the first thing i'm gonna try is HL2 original.
I'll let you know what its like

What the **** were IGN saying, that is totally misleading! I had an epi fit thinking it was gonna be a ****ty xbox port!
Poor poor review skillz.

Erm.... ok Concpet mate, if that floats your boat!*
But back to the way the actual game looks, I'm delighted. I had a good righ back in the day for HL2 (7800GT) and I didn't want a step back in quality, some 3 years later!

I'm only commenting on this stuff because I don't have the game and I already know HL2 inside out and I'd prefer to wait to discuss the new stuff so nothing is spoiled. The actual conversion looks pretty much as you'd hope (the effects which were taken out of the Xbox version are certainly there). So without having the game presentational differences are a talking point (well, an admittedly small talking point :P). I always liked it how the options screen was overlayed over the game. Small, elegant details like that go up to adding the polish - polish which the Xbox version really didn't have.

Having played it, I can firmly say that IGN are talking a field full of bull**** - so much so that whoever wrote and then passed that review for publishing should go and find another job.
Same as the Xbox version? Seriously
If that was the case then my Xbox must have been broken. And so must my PC. Because visually I'm seeing very little difference between HL2 and EP1 as I did when I was playing them on my PC with all the options turned on.
The only thing I could see that seemed slightly different was there was a few more jaggies (but nothing worth worrying about) and that the
Barnacles
didn't spit out as much remains when you killed them. So if that's the standard then I guess it's downgrade total
Only other gripe is that the audio on HL2 can be a bit faint, but crank up the sound and you're good to go. Might also be worth fiddling with the sensitivity to get it as you like before you settle in. As a previous PC and Mouse man the pad did take a little getting used to, but tweak it a bit and you'll be as right as rain. All the required actions fit nicely to the pad.
And Portal - what a game. I grinned and chuckled like a loon playing it. A total mind messer in parts and I'm only in the opening levels
