What I did really like was

that I had spotted the guy with the briefcase a few times during the game. The first time I wasn't even sure I had seen him. Very well placed and had me wondering about him without getting in the way. A nice touch.

Read that with no fear, but now I'm bothered. I'm still on Highway 17 and haven't seen him since the intro.

He's there a couple of times before that (blink and you'll miss him so you always have to be quick). He's also there a couple of times after that.

Where you're up to he's been:-

On the TV being powered by the Vortigaunt on the underground railroad in City 17.

On one of the flickering screens that Breen uses during the water craft sequence.

In the cabin where you can stop for supplies just after getting the water craft (he heads inside and vanishes as you approach)

Over one of the walkways during the water craft section - he wanders off as you see him.

On the railway track, vanishing in to a tunnel behind some trains once you escape from Ravenholm.

And then after the point you're up to (spoilers natch):

Talking to Odessa Cubbage during the Highway 17 drive (you have to use a viewing stand in one of the optional stop off points along the way)

On a Tv set, standing in a boat on a weird lake with a raven next to him while weird music plays. It's just after you enter the apartment building after Dog's spectacualr scene on returning to City 17.

Those are all off the top of my head and I have no idea why I remember those

Yeah I first caught a glimspe

of him on a screen and wasn't sure about it. Then I saw him on a dock bit at the cabin in the water section and I looked down and thought 'oh I must have to meet this guy'. I turned to gather any supplies lying around and when I turned back to him he was gone. I thought it was a very cool moment.

Don't think I spotted him on the railway bit but, yeah, I saw him again on the highway. Provided a very nice eerie element.

Cool. I can't believe I've missed him everytime though. Hm.

Wow you guys who had to wait ages for Ep1 back in the day must have been pretty gutted by HL2's ending, or lack of.

Well it came out around about the same time as Halo 2, which by comparison made HL2 have the most satisfying ending ever conceived.

After doing a bunch of in space gubbins you stow away on board the prophet of truths ship as it returns to earth, the whole of earth is being nuked and ships are everywhere, you prepare yourself for the penultimate level, the earth level from the E3 presentation.

Some guy : Chief what are you doing on board that alien ship heading to earth?

Chief : finishing the fight!

Ah yes. I can see how that would be even worse. Bad time for game endings all round then.

Yeah tell me about it, the worst ending had to be Metroid Prime 2, you get to the end of that and Samus takes her helmet off and she is actually Gil Gerrard from Buck Rogers!

Just got to the end of Portal, twas brilliant. That is all

Sums up my feelings pretty much, not a big HL fan so was unsure if I'd enjoy Portal or not but I most definitely did...I have an itching to play through it again rather than bother finishing Episode 2.

Does anyone know how to get the achievement: 'Contain the citadel core without killing any stalkers'?

I've fallen at the first hurdle, when you have to get one of those ball things, and alyx reprogrammes it to go and kill the stalker who's blocking the door. Does anyone know how to do it?

Actually you haven't fallen and are still in the running

You only have to do it on the bit where

you contain actually enter the core - it's the two Stalkers right at the start that keep removing the charges from the light bridges. Contain the core without killing either of these and you'll get it.

I thought I had done that, but apparently not, as I didn't get the achievement at the same time as I got the "Containment" achievement.

I'll see about getting it when I replay Episode One to get the "One Free Bullet" achievement at a later date.

I bought this over the weekend and WOW! I never bothered to buy a new Pc at the time of the HL2 and D3 hype so this is a completly new experience for me. I just dont want to stop playing, its so enthralling and immersive. Is HL2 the same length as the first HL? I really hope so as I just dont want it to end at the moment.

Portal is bloody good too, lets hope they'll make some downloadable levels for the future as its too short! Havent even tried TF2 yet FFS!
