I've just finished all of Half Life 2 for the first time. What can I say about Episode 2?

Done when it's done realistically. I'm sure there was an interview I read the other week where they even admitted they weren't totally sure where they were going with eps3 yet.

Aah well, we can (read: have to) wait...might have to have yet another run though of eps2.


Slightly o.t. but imo there are few and far between decent mods for hl2 but Minerva: Metastasis is incredible. It's seriously professional and has a real dark, brooding atmosphere.

It came out in a number of episodes originally and is all the work of one man.

If you haven't played it why not give it a whirl whilst waiting for eps3. I thoroughly recommend it.

Don't suppose anyone has read the new UK OPM? They have a small article on the people that Alyx and her father were modelled after - she fronts a US cable channel apparently and the guy that plays her father they found on a street corner in the US holding a sign asking for work.

She's just the face / body model though, they used another actress for the voice - but both actresses have one Asian and one black parent, just like Alyx is supposed to have. THAT is attention to detail!

I finished Episode Two today, what an ending, which completes my Half-Life 2 journey until Episode Three.

Been playing through the ps3 orange box the last few days. Im finding that while half life 2 has stood up very well compared to so called next gen games, the port has been handled very badly and is technicly very weak. Theres still frame rate problems and a lot of load screens. I had this on the xbox, why is it on the ps3?

Still it cant take away the greatness of the overall package, so minor niggles really. Just wish valve had handled the port themselves

I don't want to sound heretical, But I've just uninstalled HL2 at beginning of sandtraps level after several dreary hours wondering what the fuss is about and lamenting the galaxians-level AI (i.e., create illusion of intelligent challenge by introducing smaller and faster enemies - manhacks, fast crabs/zombies).

I'm sure I must be missing something, though? Is it worth installing a later episode to try to ignite some kind of interest. Ep 3 sounds like the best-realized experience from what I read?

That would certainly be something else.

It hasn't been released yet but yeah, in my opinion the best one of the hl2 series is episode 2.

I still have HL to play from the pack of games I bought off Steam in Dec 06, but personally I think HL2 is the better of the three games I have played so far.
I feel the balance of the combat, exploring, and puzzle solving in the game is just perfect. EP1 for me had a little too much action and not enough puzzle and EP2 the opposite. Also people go on about how long HL2 was. I didnt have a problem with that at all, I didn't want it to end...

Golgo: the style, storytelling and atmosphere doesn't change much and if it hasn't drawn you in by the sandtraps level, then I can't see it drawing you in at a later point.

Been playing through Half-Life 2 on the PS3 this week and I'd forgotten how good the game is. I've only played through the first couple of sections (Just at the entrance to Ravenholm... so I'll need to pluck up some courage to continue! ), but the pacing, design and difficulty are just perfect.

There's no map, and no obvious sign of where you should be going, but you'll invariably be going in the right direction anyway as the game discreetly leads you along its chosen path.

Looking forward to getting through this again and finally getting to play Epiosdes 1 and 2.

I've played through the original HL2 before when it released on the PC. In fact it was the last game that I built a PC specifically for.

Almost feels like the first time through though. In fact it may even be slightly better as I'm approaching each section with a heightened anticipation (Or trepidation, as far as Ravenholm is concerned).

To mix it up try to do Ravenholme with only the Grav Gun, that's what the section was designed for.
