Just played through most of Portal I think in one sitting, I'm onto

the 19th chamber, the part with like 15 pipes above you moving back and forwards and I have to get to the top, tried it for like 5 minutes and couldnt find a way, then realised I have to leave for work!

So far its such a great wee game though, quite short, but the advanced levels should be fun to try after its finished!
That bit was the only REAL headscratcher moment for me.

So simple too when you realise how though!

The advanced ones are the same levels but with like an extra force field or one less block...one of them REALLY had me scratching my head. I've done 3/6 now

Got this today and had a quick blast of Half Life 2 before powering on with Portal tonight. I was surprised at how good it looked on the 360 - for some reason I was genuinely worried it would not be a good port but 5 minutes back in City 17 have assuaged my fears

Now onto the Aperture Science Laboratory...

Playing through Episode 1 at the moment. Getting a real weird vibe from it. From a narrative and character sense it still feels fresh but from a gameplay and tech point of view it really feels quite old.

Does that make sense? Have I had too much to drink? Is the earth round?

Hehe, good good, thought I was being an idiot, I'll check it out again later and see how I get on!

I will admit though that I'm a bit dissapointed in how short Portal is, I know its got the advanced levels etc but they are the same as you say, just less some items.

The starting chambers were very simple and easy and although the last 2 or 3 really stepped it up and had some major head scratchy moments, I would have preferred less starting ones and more crazy mad puzzle ones like the last few.

Hopefully DLC will cure that though!

One of the bits I LOVED was near the end where you

have a set of 4 or 5 raised platforms that you have to jump up with a lower drop down to your left and all the green goo that kills you surrounding it.

Took me ages to work out how to do it, its genius how you have to fire your gun to the next step from the top of each jump and make sure you fire the alternate side of the gun each time otherwise you'd ruin the chain! Was a belter!

WHAT THE HELL!!! I cannot do this part on Chamber 19 that I mentioned a few posts up!

Its killing me!!! Does anyone want to give me a slight clue, I'd feel like an idiot looking up a guide as I havent heard anyone else struggling with this yet!

I've tried every trick in the book but cant see a way!

At the top of the room there are fences the whole way round so you cant even get on to that level even with a well timed and placed portal jump. I dunno what to do!!!!

I finished Portal earlier this evening. There better be more stages for this in DLC because I absolutely loved it. The final mission was superb - well written speech from the computer (

"remember that time I pretended I was going to murder you..."

) and a lot of variety to the layout, not to mention the epic length of it. I've got to find that song in MP3 form, too

I've now moved on to Half-Life 2 which I haven't played since I finished it back on the PC release (just arrived at

              Black Mesa East

) so I have the two episodes to play when I get through that, and I haven't even thought about TF2 yet. Will this package ever be beaten for value?

I finished Portal this evening at last and what a joy it was. The final battle was just hilarious, and then the much talked about song...! Fantastic.

Going back to episode 2 after that, good though it undoubtedly is, feels a little flat by comparison. Surely Valve have to give you a portal gun in episode 3! I know there is a mod already to enable to portal gun in HL2, but I'd love to see it properly used in gameplay.

DUDES!!! Help me! I'm actually hitting my head off the wall here in frustration at this final level! Why can I not do it!!!

Oh my god, how easy was that. Total mind blank there, dont know how I didnt see what to do there. I am such an idiot, I cant explain how after a whole hour of mucking about inthis room I never seen how to do it!

                    I think I'm going crazy.

The Portal ending song extracted as an MP3 for anyone who wants it:

                      Still Alive

It's only getting a little further into Episode2 that I remember how utterly brilliant Half-Life2 is...I can't imagine how giddy virgin HL2 folks must be who have purchased Orange Box. For those people I can honestly say that this is the best videogame package ever; a omplete work of genius.

FINISHED!! Portal is such a gem of a game. Only bit that annoyed me was my own stupidity at not solving some of the puzzles sooner!

                          Now onto Ep1!

I did say you'd kick yourself mate! It's actually very obvious but your brain isn't looking for the obvious!

Love this game, you're right about it being short, but when you think about how much there is on the disc, it's acceptable.

Picking this up later on today - i cant wait based on the comments on here.

What really excites me is that i've only ever played half life 1, so im going in fresh - i cant wait! Half life virgin FTW!

If you think Portal's short you can always try those ones where you have to do it with limited portals or speed runs. Like Chamber 18 in 52 seconds

There are some insane ones on YouTube.
