That I agree with you on. But in this case the 3 I achieved last night were done without having any knowledge of what the skill points were so they are not that obtuse.

It only occurred to me after I moved on to planet 3 to check what the skill points were that I realised I had unlocked all of them on the level.

I had a blast on this round a mates last night, and enjoyed it. Its just good solid fun.

I can see how it's not everyone's cup fo tea, but there is no way you can say this is a bad game. Some of the humour is really good. I particularly liked the grooveitron

Its visually excellent, the screenshots don't do it justice. The amount of stuff going on at once is particulalry impressive. I still think the 'its like playing a pixar movie' comment is a bit of an insult to pixar though as it still doesn't come close. Well maybe one of their late eighties shorts.

Might have to see if my mate will lend me his PS3 for the weekend

I got this game a few days ago, I clocked it yesturday so going to write a mini-review.

Presentation: Well, they say its like a Pixar film and its deffinatly close to the mark visually. It looks amazing, so much going on in the foreground/backround, no slow down and all of it budding with life. . Voice acting was light hearted for the most part and some of it was genually funny, music fit the game if sometimes a little over bearing to the action. The game doesnt come over with any memorable tunes.

Gameplay: Each planet is different - all of it fun. There was never a platforming moment I didnt enjoy and while some have more interesting level design, most worked with the flow of the game. Weapons are very hit and miss, they also dont scale very well later on in the game. Most weapons you buy later on you havent used enough to make them super powerful, your earlier weapons that are upgraded are fairly useless. Its refreshing however not to have to backtrack to find more bolts etc to complete the game, you can do fine just blizzting though the levels. There is one hidden area in most levels and its actually a lot of fun finding and getting to them. There is pretty much no enemy AI, but the enemy types are varied enough to keep you on your toes. boss fights for the most part are a lot of fun, with only 2 putting up any real fight.

Misc: The game has about 8-15hrs give or take how fast you want to ply though, maybe 20hrs for 100% completion. Whats great is that a hard mode is unlocked when you complete the game and it is an actual challenge compared to the main game, which is fairily easy. You will die, either by boss or by mobs or by level design (sometimes I couldnt see if I needed to make a jump over a platform, frustrating at the time) but rarely more than once per zone. Its the best thing out for the PS3 I think at the moment.

Gotta agree with the general sentiment on here. Tis a most njoyable platforming romp with lots of gratifying shooting as well.

Fits into my limited play time these days as well. Never feels like a chore to play and what it does it does well. And is actually tres amusing in places.

Just got to and inside the asteroid/mining planet bit last night.

Cpl of qu's...where are all the statues on Murkow, are they all in the main area when you first land as I can't find the last 1 for the life of me...?

And is it possible to invert the ship and reticule controls whilst in space as I couldn't find the option though I could be going blind...? Most annoying in that first pirate encounter!

There's been a couple of moments in this which really raised a smile!

One was a reference that I've heard a couple of times know along the lines of:

I can't remember the exact wording of it but it did make me smile at the time. These aliens have been referred to a couple of times in the game that I've noticed.

Missed one statue myself. There's an area to the right when you enter the park that is blocked off and it says something like "this requires a weapon not available on this planet". I presume you can come back later when you have the appropriate weapon and the last statue will be accessible.

You might be looking for the statue that is

above the entrance when you first go into the area with the fountain in the beginning

I think I'm near the end now...

If I finish the game and defeat the final boss or whatever you do, will I be able to go back through the levels maxing my stats and completing the other missions?

Don't want to finish it before I've done everything.

Got through a few more planets last night and I've gotta say the comments from various characters and suchlike really do make me chuckle to myself sometimes whilst playing. Just pitched at the right level.

It really gives the impression that they had a good laff and njoyed making the game. Tis enfused with it methinks...

                          Quick Advice Needed!!

I recently bought this but had never played the earlier games so started on those first. I've just finished Ratchet & Clank 1 on PS2 and want to know if you ratchet veterans would recommend playing no 2 & 3 or not?

I did enjoy number 1 (minus the annoying end boss) but not sure if 2 and 3 are worth skipping or not.

                          Cheers in advance

I thought they were both great games but I'm a big fan of the series.

To be honest you could just skip them if you wanted but I'd personally reccomend that all 3 were played before 4.

                                How good is this game!

About 2 hours into it now and it's becoming one of my surprise hits of the year. I love some of the weapons, my favourite one so far is the electical whip thingy. The game has some nice visuals too, some of the backgrounds are amazing.
