Finished this yesterday with 120 stars.

Was gutted to find out all you get is to play through the whole game again as Luigi, no secret world saying YOU ARE A FANTASIC PLAYER just that cheap trick

I didn't find the game that hard but was far as fun goes it got to be game of the year for me so far. Everything about it just says originality and fun. A Masterpiece.

Actually there was one star that made me think ' yeah this is the hard s**t i'm talking about'

Star 117, The reverse of the 2D Mario in toyland is Luigi, that stage has the dissapear when touched green platforms, rotating block platforms that spin when touched, no edges and death slime. It has no rest point you have to constantly move and collected 100 purple coins. That was tricky as hell at first.

Go diagonally to the opposite end of the map, try to get as many coins off the yellow tiles as you can then zig zig your way back to the starting point for the star.

There are more than 100 coins so don't feel you need to collect them all!

You need to do a loop around the outside (but go inland when you can to collect coins) as the star appears back where you started.

First you need to go right, take a long jump over to the nearest long column of coins. Get to the end of the first line and collect the few coins there and you need to make a return journey along the second line of coins. You'll have to rotate the camera before you start the second line so everything is lined up. It's okay to pause on the disappearing block for a few seconds, the collision mesh is only taken away after the block has completely shrunk.
Then just make your way around (right all the way) until you get back to the start.

I personally found it easier to jump on the swinging block instead of running.

Someone should just draw the level in Paint and the location of the coins so you can work out the route beforehand!

The way I did it sounds a lot like Borts, too.

Pretty much straight (as Mario's facing, it's actually diagonal) from the start until you've jumped over the green gunk, and then turn right towards the four yellow panels, head to the ones nearest the edge of the level and long jump over for that long line of coins, and then long jump the next gap in a straight line too (a jump/spin is enough for the second one). Then turn right and skirt around the outside of that little corner collecting all the coins on the green panels in that area in order, until you end up almost where your last long jump landed, then two long jumps adjacent to the last ones get you back onto the yellow blocks I mentioned before, jump right over the gunk, and head around the outside of the level anti-clockwise. By the time you get to the life you should have 60-65 coins and most of the level is still unactivated, so it's pretty easy from there if you're careful. Try and get the coins that aren't over any squares just off the edge of the level when you see them, a spin jump does it, they help the total a lot.

Heres my method

Jump to the out of the right set of squares closest to the green gunk. Now long jump straight ahead onto north green platforms. Now leg it towards the first rotating block near the green gunk on the right, long jump over the gunk towards the long line of coins, land and move onto the rotating square on the right and long jump straight back over the other line of coins, yes you are jumping blind towards the camera at this point. Then long jump back onto the green squares. Now run back towards the direction you long jumped. collect the coins in the bottom right of the level then long jump towards the top right (extra live area). Now basically work in a wide diagonal field back towards the start. Use jump/spin to grab the bunch of 5 coins that are haning over various straight drops.

Damn thats a hard stage to explain how to do it. haha. I guess Bottom middle area first, bottom right, top right, top middle, top left, bottom left. Done

I had been saving Mario for Christmas, but with the xbox I decided to give it a go.

Wii Sports was OK, and could be fun for family, but it was Mario that I bought it for.

24 stars later I am absolutly delighted that the xbox is away for repair.

I feel mario defines gaming at it purest level. The love and attention that has gone into each level is awesome, and the imagination and art work are sublime.

The textures are low res, sure, but man they look gorgeous over component!

After getting my second grand star, I just ran around jumping at the base, loving every minute of mario joy.

I'll sell the wii when I'm done, (I tested prime, but it's not my cuppa) but I won't regret it for a heartbeat.

The wii is worth buying for Mario. No question about it.

You know you don't need to wait for the green shells to stop spinning before you pick em up. Just do a spin near the shell at any point and you'll pick it up. Use your star shots to stun the little wizards and spin them dead
