Haha Dont let the lame name of the comic stop you from reading Ass Effect.

I'm definately enjoying the game more on my second play through on a harder setting. It's probably my imagination but I think the AI zerg rushes less on hardened.

I’ve gone through all kinds of phases with this game.

Initial impressions were not good. Looks impressive in stationary shots for sure in terms of modelling, lighting etc. but when running, the game really is a mess. The tearing and frame rate are just unbelievably bad that I was really considering shelving the game.

Playing through the Eden Prime section, things didn’t get much better. The system felt overly-complicated and whilst I was progressing I didn’t feel totally in control and felt more like I was coasting through not fully sure what I was doing (this was after thoroughly going over the manual too).

Left it for a few days and went back to it yesterday and spent literally 5 hours just exploring the Citadel and it all feels a lot better. The attention to detail in how all the different situations can pan out is very impressive indeed. You genuinely feel like your actions and decisions are having an effect in the world. I’m still not totally understanding of the Biotics yet but overall I now have the desire to see this through to the end.

One thing I do like about my RPGs is side quests and this delivers in abundance from pretty much the outset. The way they are sometimes delivered is quite unexpected too such as listening in to some of the elevator broadcasts and then finding your journal has been updated with an assignment.

Overall, I don’t think I can agree with the GOTY/BEST RPG EVAH!!!! Comments (yet) but definitely a solid title.

19 hrs in mostly spent exploring the southern systems, which has had me run into loads of random stuff, best being a certain Silver ball, casino helper and a troop of monkey's(game needs more native life forms). Only done 2 of the main quest areas that being the snow planet and of course eden prime at the start think its about time to clock up a few more main quests.

I must be the odd one out when it comes to the combat as i quite enjoy it, playing as Techie/Sniper and having a balanced team a full Biotic and full weapons lets me take on everything. I have myself debuff the geth and snipe, use the biotic to beat down/stall organics and stop rush tactics(singularity works wonders) and have the full weapons women mow down anything mid range and like other find it easy to leave the A.I. be, unless i need to sleathly creep into a section ot get a first shot in which case "hold" works well.

One thing i haven't yet solved is part of first set of quests on Citadel. The dammed Keepers, found them all but... the keeper next to the A.I. outside the tower won't let me scan it leaving me at 20/21. Any tips?

It's an odd one, this. It really shouldnt work - it's clunky, obviously cut back and compromised, hokey and occassionally irritating (think lifts). However, I can't stop playing it. It's got a really attractive and enjoyable quality to it, but I can't put my finger on what that is, maybe a 'pulpy' sci-fi feel? Nontheless, it's really very good, and I couldn't bear KOTOR.

Good point. I'm currently ripping it up with the Orange Box and Galaxy. So perhaps I'm a little hyper to truly enjoy Mass Effect. It's too late though, I traded it in for Kane and Lynch on the way to work this morn'. A move which I kind of regret now, on account of how whack the first play thread suggests it is. Oh well.

I thought the same, I almost kept driving off cliffs. After a while you get the hang of it though and it is great fun.

Has anyone noticed it goes abit ape though sometimes even if you reverse or go forward it will still move forward? Happened to me a few times when tying to strafe missiles. It will climb out though thankfully

Yeah I'm noticing that a lot. I think it's because I'm trying to use it like a Halo Warthog, which it isn't designed to be. I'm often driving off in the wrong direction. I find the vehicle a little frustrating to be honest, climbing up some of the cliffs is quite tedious.

Still totally in love with the game though, had to make a fairly tough choice yesterday which actually made me sit back and think about my decision. Still not sure if I did the right thing as it was so much deeper than Good\ Evil.

Well, after finishing it at a pedestrian 47 hours and 20 or so minutes, i enjoyed it, for the most part.

I just wish there were more fully developed worlds you could visit and revisit, because i don't feel

the citadel/ feros/ noveria (those 3 in terms of ones you can revisit again, albeit in limited fashion once you've completed the storyline arc for that planet) virmire and ilos as the ones you visit once only

. I don't feel that's sufficient enough for having a whole galaxy to play with.

As mentioned before, i wish there was more diversity in the uncharted planets. Though some do look very nice.

A question for those that have completed it once already...
is it standard for the game to duplicate all your inventory that you were equipped with? for example i have my spectre weapons duplicated with all the attachments as well?
and the attachments that have been equipped on other weapons and armours have been duplicated (once) as well

I think theirs an option when you finish the game to replay it with all stuff from before (at a harder level) dunno not finished it yet Im way off.

Ive hit 18hours now (16 without pauses as I go off to make a drink etc.. when Im doing a lift and forget hehe) and Im only onto my 2nd mission. Really enjoying it, I think if Id known the stuff before Id played about the Citadel I wouldnt have trapsed around for 8hours and just gone off and done the missions as the side quests wherent that needed in the port. Im finding it really gripping now that Im doing the missions and the characters quests I pickup on. Im also buttering up the ladies for a 3and1 action all being well with the reporter recording

Finished it yesterday, the last area was a total blast, really enjoyed it. Too bad it felt like a grind with all the UNC side missions earlier on though. Was a bit annoying at times there. I did find some of the planets a bit bland, and got my vehicle stuck in some rocks at least twice where I had to open up my last load as it would not move. Also got my character stuck next to the map on the ship in the railing and couldnt move WTF! LOL

All in all I did enjoy it though
