I spent a lot of time there too, left at level 10. Not sure how I managed to complete the game so quickly, maybe it was because of the easy combat - never had any real trouble with things, and the last planet/mission ended up being one huge zerg rush as it was so easy. Still very enjoyable though.

Are there new weapons/ armour as rumoured when you go through this mode?
Yes there is, Crates contain higher number versions of the weapons, the first crates i found on Eden prime during the start of my new game+ contained things like the Banshee IX. I don't know if you'll find any visually different armour though.
Other than that, obviously you start with the same character, equipped the way you finished the first time, party members start blank, but with all the skill points they had before, ready for you to reassign as you see fit.

On my second playthrough at the moment with my new character and so far it's still a very different experience. There are lots of alternative ways of doing things and it's interesting to see how things differ.
Also, if you didn't manage to unlock the security doors at eden prime on your first playthrough (I wasn't sure how the hacking worked at the time) it's worth getting it right the second time as it opens a nice sub quest. Certainly makes the first section seem more like a proper level than an introduction.

Ok, what is it with these sex scenes?!
Just did the consort quest with my female character and for some reason that wasn't even remotely close to being explained in the text, the scene suddenly changed to them naked and caressing each other, before changing again to a scene showing the alien thrusting her hand up. Then it went back to the normal cut scene and she said something about wanting to give me a trinket. Not a single word was spoken (or even hinted at during the conversation) of what happened/was going to happen. The dialogue and initial cut scene was identical to the male version, except they threw in the sex scene in the middle of it without changing any of the text. Very odd.

I'm captivated now.
Good story, interesting (if sometimes cheesy) dialogue, lots of intrigue and politics, some good acting (apart from some of the Starship Trooper types) and the much more interesting alien races are a joy.
Its one of those games where some of its parts are almost interesting enough as a game in themselves (the planet exploration for example). Add in everything else and its a great package.
The combat is the only real negative. It feels tacked on because its all the rage to have a cover system. Combat akin to KOTOR or NWN2 would have been fine. You really need to have more control over your other party members in games such as this. Also the AI seems to just rush you most of the time.
Its the first game for some time where I've genuinley not wanted to stop playing as apposed to some of the other so called christmas AAA titles that have been a bit of a chore.
For me its a cross between Planescape and KOTOR which is not a bad thing at all.

A few hours in now, it's boredom all the way for me so far. Even the combat seems very static...and I die a lot. Which makes the un-skippable rotating death screen infuriating.
I seem to be spending a significant amount of time riding in lifts.
The one thing keeping me playing is how fantabulous the aliens look. Their craggy faces are a treat.
But yeah, this is probably getting traded.

Hehe Im about to go on my first proper mission in me own ship, only taken 9hours! (take 2off for pauses though). I have to be in the right frame of mind for these type of games or I get twitchy and skip the reading/talking sections. For me this is like a good book really and once I was in the right frame of mind to sit down with it it sucked me in (I tried for an hour when it came out after fighting in a shoot everything mood and got irritated with it, going back with a calmer frame of mind has made it suck right in for me).
Ive shoved it onto Veteran and enjoyed the fighting in port so far when it happened. I didnt like it at first but I remember having an eppy when I got Baldurs Gate with the this is crap because its not true turn based (space to pause) as thats what Id been used to. Id personally take turn based combat over realtime in a RPG anyday but I think it works well for me as a hybrid GOW. Its got me in the mood for long talking/reading RPGs though so thats something (Bluedragon and this have been the first RPGS Ive been able to go near since me coma three years ago without my brain wanting to melt).
If you mean the lifts in the port where we start after 1st mission you can use the travel spots once you been to an area which makes it much quicker for loading, the lifts dont bother me though now Im into it (last week they did me nut in but I wasnt in my right frame of sit and chill mood I just wanted to flashbang COD4 everything).
I will quote my mum from yesterday walking into room with my leaving thought for the day (shes not into graphics) * me look at the graphics on that heheLast edited by Guest; 03-12-2007, 10:05.
