Not sure whether to get this or not.

Saw it in the shop on Friday when I traded in a load of games and nearly got but I'm really not sure about it. I went for HoTD 2 & 3 instead...?10 cheaper too!!

This is one of those games where I feel demos are so important as I've been playing theses games for years and loved them but this seems just so different that I could well end up hating it.

Don't think any of my mates have this either as they opted for PS3/360 versions and they were crap. lol

I'm a bit worried whether they've aimed it too much at Nintendo's money spending casual gamer or not. I have the same worries about MK on the Wii.

Its basicaly the PS2 version of the latest PES but with slightly worse A.I., a horrible bug where you just have to score then stand still deep in your defense to win a match against the CPU and Point and click controls..

It's still quite fun, but to be honest unless youre planing on playing alot of multiplayer I wouldnt get it, becuase as a single player game its enjoyable for only a few hours untill you realise its actualy quite crap.

          Marmite happened

I'm really loving the Champion's Road mode. Playing it on hardest difficulty and it's pretty challenging. Getting the PAL version ended up being a good move. I like the way you're presented with hints during the bonus player selection.

Still haven't managed to get online due to that 86070 error I keep getting when attempting Free Match

            Loving this

Been playing a hell of alot of 5v5 FIFA over recent months and the way the controls here allow you to make runs wherever you want reminds me of the freedom that having 5 human players in FIFA brings you. Just experimenting with the A+B one-two passes, there's alot of little button combinations I'm finding out about now.

Tried 3 games online yesterday, the first one had a bit of lag but was playable, the next two weren't so favourable. But then, with Free Match I've no idea who/where I was connecting to so with 2 UK players it might run fine I've got the US version, will it work with PAL ones?

2836 0058 5696 is my Friend Code, I'm dying to play this properly in 2 player so tell me if you've added me, I'm bound to be on later after the Liverpool/Everton game.

Just tried adding you and it says the code is incorrect. Which version do you have? If it's not the US one I'm guessing that answers the compatibility question

I don't get your comments at all, why on earth would you just stand in defense with the ball?

I'm loving this, its the best version of the lot, and one of the better uses of the Wii remote. Theres a steep learning curve but its seemless when you get into it. I've had 13 online games this weekend, never takes long to find an opponent although i've recieved the 86070 error on a couple of occasions.

And if you do, at least in 4 and 5 star difficulty, the opponent will come and take it away from you.

Exactly. 3 stars on this is more like 2 stars on PES PS2/360/PS3 so if its too easy for you whap it up. PES you could always cheat the AI on 3 stars up to 6FE anyway and its why I never play on less than 4stars as its way too easy.

Umm... I said if you score and then stand deep in your defense with the ball the A.I. is too stupid to close you down... so you can win the match without even trying by standing still and waiting till its the end of the match (this happens even on 5 stars). I don't actualy bother doing it, as it would be a bit boring, but the fact that it happens means the game is poorly made.

As for a steep learning curve you must be playing a different game to me, becuase even on the hardest diffculty i'm finding the amazingly stupid A.i. relativley easy to break down, mainly becuase the defense is always so poorly organised and runs out of the way of you when you have the ball half the time.

I was having a game earlier and both central defenders ran miles out of position and then stood next to each other Instead of just standing still and attempting to stop me. Becuase they moved I ran stright through and scored... and this was on 5 stars.

The games mechanics are also slightly buggered in places somtimes the ball rolls towards players and they just stand and watch it at their feet for 10 seconds without bothering to take control of the ball then someone from the other team runs half the llength of the pitch and steals it from them.

I'm not overly convinced by your claims, rmoxon. Can't say I've witnessed the examples you've mentioned. I will keep an eye out for you, though.

The thing about standing deep in your defense and no one closing you down hapens everytime so im not sure how you can miss it really (though once in your defense you somtimes have to pass it once or twice before the CPU ignores you).

The A.I. problems seem pretty hit and miss, somtimes it does sensible things other times it welll... does incredabley stupid things.

I had another really insane thing happen earlier where my goal keeper actualy ran OFF the pitch and stood at the side of the goal and left it wide open for the other team to score... which they did... I then saved the replay, becuase it was so funny, and I also wanted to make sure people would belive me that the game has Rubbish A.I.

I've tried it now three times with three different teams on 4 and 5 star mode on purpose and I've not seen it happen yet (which makes it pretty much a non-issue, if it even exists on these difficulty levels). And it doesn't even matter whether I score the first goal or they score the first goal, the opponent lets me stand a few seconds but then closes in everytime.

I had another really insane thing happen earlier where my goal keeper actualy ran OFF the pitch and stood at the side of the goal and left it wide open for the other team to score... which they did...
The things you say, especially this, make me think you have some kind of a faulty version of the game or a faulty Wii.

Also, this game does have a very steep learning curve. Or are you telling me you mastered the combination of intelligently ordering multiple free runs, timing and accuracy of the (long and short) passes into free space, cover defense, cancelling instructions and organizing your defense on the fly, three different pass-and-move techniques, pulled defense, man-marking on the fly, intercepting passes and direct control of the player in posession of the ball (different dribblings and feints) right away, and simultaneously with a natural flow?

Wow, I'd like to see you play a half. I just have a feeling you're not using the full potential of the control scheme.

And i feel you are talking rubbish... anyone less pretentious want to try and say I'm full of crap?... please? It would be less embaressing.

Also if im finding the game easy i'm at a loss as to how I can be playing the game wrong?... unless playing it properly makes it harder?.

The game is bugged to hell and nothing you say has changed that fact.... but I'm really sorry about that as you obviously love this game deepley from the bottom of your soul.... really, but its still true.

And you havent Passed it around in your defense and then stood still.. becuase if you had youd know you arent closed down.... EVER....

Also... I NEVER EVEN MENTIONED THE CONTROL SCHEME..... or the variety of things you can do... none of that is the problem. In fact if it wasnt for the A.I. being so bad the game would be brilliant.

Also I cant belive you said my wii may be faulty becuase the goal keeper in a game was acting like he was high....... wait...... are you high?

Rmoxon, you are incredibly defensive. I, like a few other people in this thread have not encountered your issues hence why we are querying some of the things you are saying. Its no disrepute to you.

As for a steep learning curve you must be playing a different game to me, becuase even on the hardest diffculty i'm finding the amazingly stupid A.i. relativley easy to break down, mainly becuase the defense is always so poorly organised and runs out of the way of you when you have the ball half the time.
If you re-read my post you will realise I was talking about the control scheme, which incidentally has nothing to do with the AI.

I played a few single player matches to get into the control scheme initially but then went strait into the free matches online (where AI is obviously a non-issue entirely). I did test your theory last night however and whilst not closed down immediately, I was always closed down eventually and that was on 3 stars. This is exactly the same as PES 6.

You may have been talking about the control scheme but he was directing what he said at me, and he said I wasnt using the control scheme properly even though i'm finding the game easy...no one was talking about what you said.

I'm not being defensive at all, I was pointing out that what he said didnt make sense.

You arent querying what i'm saying either... youre saying things dont happen... after ive said they do.

And If you were closed down you were obviously not standing deep enough in your defense, as if you do the A.I. NEVER closes you down... and thats on 5 stars. But as I said before you somtimes have to pass it around a bit first, but then no one will come for the ball if you stand still... but then if you step out a little bit they suddenly realise youre there and charge at you imedeatley.

Youre the one being defensive of the game... i'm not the one being defensive... and i still cant help if its incredabley buggy...or if you havent seen the bugs.... YET..... (I say yet becuase i'd think youd have to notice them sooner or later)

Also the A.I. problems can still be a problem in multiplayer when your goalkeeper does insanley silly things like runs and stands off the pitch at the side of his goal and lets the other team score (which as I said earlier i saved a replay for proof that happened if you don't belive me about that either)
