Lol, all I can say is tough luck for you rmoxon, I hope you have brilliant sessions at least with your friends / online.

The rest of us can feel extremely lucky to be able to avoid the thing even if we try to do it on purpose. Somehow I don't think we'll bump into this too often in real game situations...

It's just that I'm sure I've played the game a lot more than you and I've never seen that kind of goalie behaviour? And no, I'm not high, but I definitely woudn't mind that.

What? PES in **** game/control/AI shocker. Whatever next!

Saying that I'm currently playing my way through the Leagues on Pes6 and enjoying the game, despite the obvious flaws.

The thing is, this time it's just the opposite. Game and controls are pure gold.

You may have been talking about the control scheme but he was directing what he said at me, and he said I wasnt using the control scheme properly even though i'm finding the game easy...no one was talking about what you said.
Except you directly quoted me in response to the controls learning curve and according to that post the control schemes learning curve is easy because you think the AI is rubbish. That quite frankly didnt make sense.

Your approach to finding said bug seems very long winded . I'll definately try it again your way tonight.

When i directely quoted you i mentioned the learning curve, not the controls... and that was also 2 days ago... The first thing you said on here today was in reply to me talking to someone else...

The controls themselfs are actualy really good, its the A.I. thats rubbish. This means there is little learning curve becuase your oponents defense is so rubbish. Defending can also be extreamly frustrating too, becuase youve done everything right but somtimes your players just wont bother to tackle when you know they should have, luckily though the Cpu team will then do somthing equaly stupid so you don't conceed a goal. The general thing about football games is that usualy the computer controlled teams are too well organised... but in this it seems to be the complete oposite.

Anyway its not that long winded, you just run back really deep in to your defense with the ball and pass it to a defender and stand still, and youre never closed down. In fact if someone from the other team is near the person you pass too they will usualy run away from them getting back in formation and then just stand still.

First footie game I've played in at least 5 years and I'm blown away, probably helps that I have no-preconceptions of what a Pro Evo game should be. Just amazing freedom, which is a little daunting but I could spend hours planning corners alone :-)

If they improve it in a couple of areas it could be absolutely stunning.

Does anyone know if you can control the direction you shoot?

No, or well at least the game dosent tell you that you can aim where you shoot, even if you can. It makes taking shots from free kicks pretty boring really, as it seems to be all about luck wether you get it on target or not.

Though its probabaly better than the mechamic the game uses for penalities where all you have to do is aim for the top corner of the net with the cursor and then waggle the nunchuck and you score every single time.

The quality of the shot depends on a few key things:

                      1) stats of the player
                      2) current position / balance / speed / strong or weak leg of the player
                      3) timing of the shot

You can also carefully aim and pass the ball past the goalie in 1-on-1 situations if you like, just remember to aim far through the net to get more power to the pass. Imo, the slight RPG nature of the shooting system fits pretty much perfectly to the overall flow and feel of the game.

PES has always been like that though for shots, you could never run up and pop a goal in bottom left/top left/vice versa if your wrong side footed and running at that side of the goal its always been about correct footing, type of speed your going, balance and stats and of course what direction your facing to that area of the goal/side of goal. Crikey W11 5 had a bug in it if you used the analog for shooting it would go directly in the middle lol

Thanks, I'm not that bothered, it's such an amazingly fresh experience I can happily forgive it it's shortcomings. I've been trying to score with a pass and a chip but haven't managed it yet. I scored a relatively simple tap-in but the way I visualised it and then made it happen felt amazing, it's moments like that which make it a special title IMO.

It's amazing isn't it? When I first heard about the controls of the game, I had many many reservations. But none of those bother me when I play.

I really thought that you would need to have the choice between the long ball in the air and on the ground for instance. But when you play, things like that doesn't bother me so much. Even the lack of shot strength and direction, which you would've thought essential in a good footie game, doesn't take away from the enjoyment of this game.

And the defense isn't actually that bad. Not as bad as people make out anyway. I think mastering defense is just harder than offense. A bit like a basketball game...

A thoroughly enjoyable game all round. Best thing to hit the Wii by miles!

Btw. set your passing to manual and you can pass on the ground by pressing B once, and pass in the air by pressing B twice. Yeah, amazing game, can't wait to try it out online!
