I like the team aspect too, a nice side diversion that is in no way a heavy sim style management task but just something else to think of.

Its quite nicely done to when you are in a race and your team mate comes over the radio to apologise for messing up and being last and I found myself thinking about lost money.

I said it before but this is just a massively impressive package, only thing I can't bond with is the LeMans circuit, just don't like it at all and have taken to skipping it at the season end.

At least they're aware of the issue and are working on it. Might try whipping out the HD later.

I picked up the 360 version on Saturday - haven't opened it yet. Is this issue really big? Should I swap for the PS3 version? (I find the 360 pad easier for race games, but if it stutters all the time, then i'll be hacked off!)

If I use my memory card instead, what do I lose?

It seems to depend on hardware so I don't think you'll know until you put the game on. I've had no problems with my 360 at all, although I think I'm going to trade this for Civ Rev - it just doesn't do it for me.

Going at the speed he was going at, he should have had no problems over taking me.
If you give them the space they will happily overtake, but I've noticed that they're just extremely courteous; if they are making a pass you just need to move your car over near them and they will drop back, maybe they are worried about me crashing into them, and so they should be!

I re-downloaded the demo last night to give it another chance. Seeing as it seems to have quite a lot of good feedback, maybe i misjudged it.

Ive benched mine till patch comes out and looks like its going to take longer for us 360 owners!

Update on the patch as of late last night from one of the producers of Grid on the forum

PC patch: In the final stages of QA testing. Due to be uploaded this Thursday morning, possibly earlier.

PS3 patch: Being submitted to Sony for final testing as I speak. We're hoping to get this through their submission process and live within 2-3 days, though going by the book this can take as long as 5-8 days. It rarely takes this long though.

360 patch: Being submitted to Microsoft for testing now. MS Cert are unfortunately away on a conference all week until Friday so they will not be able to start testing the code until then (this affects every game and patch currently in Cert). We therefore hope to go live with our 360 patch early to mid next week, but this is dependant on Microsoft's available resource. Full games take priority over patches.
Bloody pathetic if true about MS

I've not had a single problem playing this, am on a bog standard 2006 360. Kiss of death me saying that of course.

Played this a fair bit since the weekend and must admit really getting in to it now, wasn't too fussed at first, but after a couple of hours play it has grown on me.

Played this online for first time last night and then again this morning, quite frankly this game has brought out a lot of [insert word of choice here]. Did eight races and in five of them at least one person was determined to try and run people off the road/use them as a brake, very annoying. Maybe I just joined a few immature (Ranked) rooms and was unlucky. Or maybe not, great shame. Only noticed lag in one race by the way, all the others were perfect connection wise.

I've had nothing but courteous play in my ranked matches, saying that i've mostly been doing drifting events where people tend to let everybody else go first so they can get some clean drifting in without collisions.

I'm more than happy to play a few games with you David. The online play with this for me has been wonderful.

Thanks for the offer, I've gone back to getting all the licences now, and boy can I not stand drifitng

It'll click eventually. The amount of times I restarting the demo's drifting event, seriously...

The tip is not to always use the handbrake. Just brake and turn into corners at the same time and do it early. With the right speed and the right balance of throttle you'll find you just glide through the corner.

Subaru Impreza comes very recommended as it's very controllable, though the Mazda RX-7 is the easiest to actually initiate a drift with in the first place.

While I'm sure I'm doing it all wrong and ultimately it'll all end in tears , on the first few drift races, touges and whatnot I've tried I've pretty much never used the handbrake and still won comfortably. I don't know if Codemasters just set an arbitrarily high score in the demo, but the most I got there was about 300,000 to the winning 700,000+... playing the full game and the opening races see me doing 200-250,000 next to 60-70,000.

I'm cautiously impressed by the different disciplines overall. As I posted before I've been severely burnt by various arcade racers with different vehicles where one particular handling model is so utterly different from everything else I've got no chance of "beating" the game if I'm railroaded into using it. Midnight Club's bikes, Motorstorm's bikes (Oh, God, the camera! The nausea! Make it stop! )... So far, however, persistence has been paying off in Grid - I was cursing the little gokart/baby Formula cars to begin with, for example, but managed to start winning after a few restarts and a bit of concentration.

Loving it overall, still. About the only thing that bugs me is the PS3's lack of any custom soundtracks - I can play music on my PC when I've got the console hooked up to a VGA box, but then I end up crouched over my old monitor about a foot from the screen. Oh, well.

Im sorry but this is a terrible racing game. I really can't understand the postive reviews. The racing is terrible, but the drifting just takes it to another level.
If you changed the name to need for speed it would fit. thats how crap this is.

It has rubber banding, terrible AI and the cars just feel like scaletrix cars. Do the people who made this actually drive cars?

Should have known better really with it coming from codemasters.

Do you actually like arcade racers at all?

                              Serious question.
