I finished it anyway. The whole end sequence was fantastic, and I thought the

      fight with Liquid

was a wonderful way to end it. Understated, with great music, brilliant lighting, and nostalgic. The ending itself obviously went on and on - I made it 1 hour 15 mins or so - but it did a good job of wrapping up pretty much everything. How bloody long did

      Big Boss take to die

, though? It started to get like a parody with the number of times

he collapsed and then managed to get up again

. Still made it a bit dusty in here, I must admit
      What did it for me was the final credits song, "heres to you" infact i have the full artists and title here;
Lisbeth Scott, written by Ennio Morricone/Joan Baez, Arranged by Harry Gregson-Williams - HERE'S TO YOU from the film "Sacco e Vanzetti"

First play thro i took it as a heres to you, as in me, the player, thanks for playing the mgs saga etc, but after the 2nd play thro and focussing on the ending i took it as a final salute to the courage of

      big boss

I was wondering, all these people going for no-kill runs, is it just no-kill , or no alerts too?

I don't see how I could do either really, theres some bits where you'd just have to kill people surely? Do gekkos count? I read on another forum that shooting down a chopper with an RPG doesn't, and what about those

annoying as hell 3 armed globe things

anyone? I might try I'm that bored.

You can kill gekkos and you can kill the weird 3 armed things.

Some things to watch out for that you cannot kill are the "armored suits" at the end of

act2, during the drebin driving escape bit

otacon will shout "take them out!" but just ignore him

Personally on my run i didnt risk killing the tanks/choppers, i was doing no alert at the same time too so firing off an rpg would of been a bit risky. Anyway its not as hard as it sounds with the tranq gun and the mosin sniper rifle (beware of the loud noise it makes while firing tho) also you can load the shotgun with air rounds to turn it non lethal, load the grenade launchers with stuns too etc etc.

The requirment im finding the hardest to get to grips with, is the no healing item, because in some sections especially on The Boss Extreme, its practically impossible not to get beaten up badly to the point of death, such as the

          act3 motorbike on rails bit

where you can run off and let hp regen and when you cant just open up with a massive gun and take them all out, got to traq them all hmm....

The US version of the database is up on the American PSN store. Still doesn't work with my PAL game, though, so it looks like we're all stuck waiting for the UK PSN people to get their arses in gear.

            Don't hold your breath...

Gah, that sucks. There's still a pile of stuff on the database though that I had no idea about. I don't think i'll ever fully understand what is happening in mgs though. Too many abbreviations for a start.

Oh it was so, so nice to finally get a half-decent bloody ending song again after the horrors of 2 and 3. The vocalist wasn't too hot, but again, far better than the average, and the song was good enough it made up for a lot of her Whitney Houston-isms. And yes, it did mean the ending tugged on my heartstrings just a little bit. Though nothing like Snake Eater's.

Ooooooh. I was wondering, and... that might actually be doable for me. Reckon I could try for that on my next playthrough.

UK game, PS3 and account with the Japanese database. It found it straight way and happily blanked out all the naughty bits that I'd not seen.

                    Downloading the US database now.

                    EDIT:
The US database found the save without any problems too.

If it's blanking the MGS4 stuff that means it hasn't found a save. It's all blocked by default unless it finds an MGS4 cleared file, which unlocks everything.

Go into options and choose the top one in there to scan for an MGS4 save. That'll tell you definitively whether or not it's finding anything.

Found my PAL Save too just fine last night (US Download btw)

Upto the start of Act 4 now. Act 3 was a ather short one is you ask me, only took 2.5 hrs to do it compared to the 10 hrs to do the first 2

                            Liked the

                            MGS1 retro start

at the begining of Act 4

I assume that the set pieces are going to increase from now until the end

The MGS4 Save is found on the PAL machines. But unless you have completed the game it will not show any MGS4 related articles. This is to stop spoilers, If someone who has completed can check it should work OK.

I have PAL machine and the MGS database works fine. The MGS4 stuff is heeden until you complete the game, which I haven't yet, so all MGS4 stuff is 'blacked out' so you can't read it.

                                quite clever really.
