I did LOL when the credits ended abruptly after Phil Harrison's name appeared.

I thought the exact same thing. Whatever ending you pick the same **** happens. Its stupid.

The story was created by a team of monkeys.

I liked what was there aswell. But the writing is terrible which is dissapointing when they are trying to emulate some good US tv shows.

Can I ask some advice - I've just started episode 8.1, Evil Roots. My objective is to head over to the secret entrance. Do I need to have a certain amount of spectral vision first? I can't be bothered driving over to be turned away. I'm at 49/100 at the minute.

I think you need at least 75, im not sure though. Just check your GPS/Map to find them.

Cheers, working my way through them.

Fortunately the 2nd batch of them are really piss easy to find and only consist of one root each.

Yeah, it does seem less tedious - managed to launch a flaming car at a pretty big root which increased my spec vision by 8 or 10.

Well, my long drawn out affair of playing this game has come to an end as I finally mustered up the will power to finish it. Car crash gaming in every sense of the word from start to finish. Lots of nice idea's, each one of them handled in a ham fisted manner.

Out of interest, did I miss some plausible explanation why the two people sitting on the park bench in the intro are the

possessed guy you kill from the basement in the beginning section

                      and some random women

possibly one of the women from the start

, both of them all scared up? Or is it just another one of those nonsensical mysteries?

I just assumed it was meant to be menacing.

                        Mother****in Lightbringer!

                          Was more confusing that menacing.

Or is it just supposed to be a case of Monsterly Love in the remains of New Yawk? After all, monsters need love too.

                            Well, just finsished this game.

After reading negative, after negative review and opinion on this game, I thought I'd give it a bash.

I'm the kind of person who when someone says something is good, I find the bad points; and when someone says something is bad, I find the good points. I'm a real d!ckhead in that sense.

But anyway, after the initial 30 minutes of "oh my god, what are these controls", I settled down into it. More of a case of getting used to them than finding they're ok I think.

I loved the story though, right up my street, so it kept me hooked.

I loved the sense of being out in the park and having a load of Humanz chasing you, but having just enough time to get into a car and hotwire it to make a getaway. I think it created that fear perfectly (maybe cos it was hard to kill them with the controls!....but anyway). Nearly spat my wine gum out the first time I hit one of those big ***stard knife throwing ones in my car and the bleedin' car blew up.

But yeah, I actually ended up really enjoying it. Made a point of not skipping any chapters. Didn't like that I could though if needed. But I suppose it's good to go back and NOT PLAY AGAIN.

Felt a but cheated by the ending, don't know what that was about, went back and did both just to see. But up until that point I was hooked on the story and didn't find the game that bad at all. Graphics were really nice for me, but controls and camera angles need to be improved....and they get **** right off with the roots of evil.

But, although it had so many nice little touches and things in the game, it was let down by a few of the things mentioned above. But the story kept me going, and I loved the cinematic esque early car ride to central park.

Overall, enjoyed it, but would hesitate to recommend as I'm sure people will get right pe'ed of with it.

I know where your coming from. I'm in two minds about it. I'm only up to the car park, but for every nice touch there is something else to annoy, namely the controls and 'funky' camera work. I'm not too sure whether to persevere, or just get rid of it. I may give it one more chance this weekend, as I really like the atmosphere, and I do want to know what happens (without skipping chapters).

Eden Studios has said that it is working on a patch for the Xbox 360 version of Alone in the Dark to bring it into line…

Looks like the 360 version is to be patched with the control improvements the PS3 version is getting. Glad I've not started playing this one yet, going to hold out for the patch.
