Hmm. Having done a little more looking into this I came across Tales of Eternia for the PSP which I remember playing. It's not a remake of that is it? Maybe I played the Japanese demo of Vesperia ages ago and that's what I'm remembering?

The demo went up in Japan months ago so you probably played that. I know I did.

Tales of Eternia isn't really owt like Vesperia, it's 2D, so maybe you are indeed remembering the demo from before

Apparently the achievements in the UK version of this (despite being the same) can be earned on top of the American ones.

Might have to play this through again sometime now

Is the demo a fair representation of the full game? I ask because I'm dying for some RPG playtime but the demo of this really turned me off the game, thought it was rubbish. Lovely looking, but rubbish. I'm a fan of the Final Fantasy games, loved Lost Oddysey, but nothing since then.

It's absolutely not. The demo is awful, the game is incredible.

I thought the demo was nasty - I got the feeling that the boss they threw in there was overpowered, was it even meant to be killable?

Really looking forward to the full game though, despite my hundreds of rpgs that I've still yet to complete...

Is Europe getting the CE version with the soundtrack? I can't seem to find it anywhere listed.

That boss is very hard in the game, too, but it comes about four hours into the game where you've had time to learn the battle system, etc, so it's not quite as invincible. You can kill it in the demo, but not knowing how to play the game at that point really doesn't make it seem that way!

Was going to buy this today until I was handed a promo copy at work!

Just stuck it in now and the first thing that struck me was "my God, this anime cutscene is stunning. Kosuke Fujishima realy does draw nice characters."

The second thing was that the opening theme is by Bonnie Pink! Yay, she's awesomeness!!!

Agreed, she is awesome. The English version I prefer to the Japanese version of the song.

Glad we FINALLY get a western release of a Tales game that has the (almost) original theme song from the games.

They were my least favourite part of the game. The faces look a bit dopey.

Tempted to pick this up tomorrow, particularly given the excellent ratings it's gotten, but can anyone comment on whether the demo is indicative of the full game? I found the demo incredibly dull and it sowed the seed of doubt in my mind that maybe it's one of those much-loved games that I'll never find anything about it to love, if you know what I mean.

The demo has nothing on the game itself.
