Cripes. I see where the difficulty critisisns have come from , 30 minutes into the game I am attacked by a boss when the game has only presented me with 2 health items and a few small enemies that wittled down my health before having to fight the boss

Are you talking about the boss in Flints room? I've never played a tales game before, and I found him pretty easy! The lass is constantly healing you, and as long as you block and move, and combo attack him, he didn't even take half of my health! Early on when you first come out of the lower area, there is a shop selling health items for 100 Geld a pop, you start with 500 geld so I stocked up then anyway! Also, if you explore the castle areas before that boss there are lots of health (and other) items hidden around the place!

That said, I fought quite a few guards on the way to that battle as I was still getting used to the combat systems, I normally play RPG's like FF7 where its very much turn based. The only other game I've played like this was Eternal Sonata (which didn't grasp me at all) and FF7 Crisis Core on PSP.

I know everyone has said it but this game is beautiful and I think those visuals helped me get into the game more than I might otherwise have done.

Yeah that's the one, I went into that fight with about 100 HP, I couldn't even get as far as her joining in to heal me.

Really? Wow that's so opposite to my experience. I'd levelled up once and had 500+ health! I'm guessing you stealthed past almost all guards? Like I said, I fought most of them because I wasn't comfortable with the battle system, so used them as training fights.

Just ordered this for £31 from gameplay. I shouldnt as im moving and need the money, but I get the feeling this will be a bitch to get hold of fairly soon as was Tales of Symphonia.

Ive still got Star Ocean and Valkyria Chronicles untouched aswell >.<

no I fought them all but the few odd hits they had got on me whilist I was practicing killing things left me with only a portion of my health which I was unable to recover in any shape way or form

Managed to get this for &#163;16 by trading in Armored Core 4, Star Ocean and Last Remnant (never finished). Looking forward to cracking this open.

How often do they do non animated cut scenes? I noticed there were two really small ones in the first ten minutes but those were both very short and looked like bonus scenes with what I assume to be the main character sharing his thoughts on the latest development (with the back button?).

Also, is the majority of it voice acted?

To some people these may seem like little things to worry about but with it really puts me off when the majority of it isn't animated and/or voice acted

Does look really nice though, and those ten minutes actually entertained me and I was disappointed when the video ended so I'm fairly sure I'll end up buying it anyway.

The 'skits' you see when you press the back button are all voice acted (new to the english version i think) and they occur reguarly throughout the game with conversations between all characters in yopur party.

If it's anything like the other tales games the hand animated stuff like the intro with the horrible music will be very few and far between

You can't use an FAQ on the first playthrough!

I'm not using a FAQ, I was just curious about the Side Mission achievements I'm making a seperate save before every boss so if I miss a side mission I can just load it up later and try again heh.

You'll need to complete the game 3/4 times for all the achievements, just have fun the first time through and get all the ones of those you miss in the next playthrough!

Just got to the section from the demo, that boss is BRUTALLY hard. I've died about 6 times now, think I may have to grind because even when I clear out his minions, I can't get him below half health!

I really don't like when RPGs force you to grind, but I see no way of beating him otherwise.
