the update patch the 1 that screwed up your save file, you know the 1 i mean C'
Oh no arguments that this is top stuff. I was initially concerned that the new play modes would create the same problem that UT3 suffered (where they added loads of new play modes that were the antithesis of what differenciated UT from other games in the genre), but this is not the case. People who felt there wasn't enough opportunity to really make the most of the weapons in the standard races will be happy with Elimination mode, and it's still a nice change of pace for the rest of us.

Studio Liverpool have done well to get the engine to do what it presumably wasn't really designed for, and my comments were merely observations, none of it impacts on the quality of the game at all.

(didn't get the trophy btw, I assume that means you have to hit other peoples barriers)

Oh and that Pro Topa zone track is awesome!
I might have the solution. You have to pass the enemy barriers when being shielded by the O button.

Still in doubt of this DLC pack, I love WipeOutHD, But all I read about the DLC is new play modes and that was the least of my interest, for me the only downside with WipeOutHD is the tracks are a bit short... I would love to see some of those old tracks from WipeOut and 2097 back into this game, or some new tracks in thes style of the 1st 2 games.... So that was I was hoping for with this DLC pack..
So far I've not ready anything yet about the new tracks, how are they ? worth buying the DLC for ? as that would be the most important reason for me, some amazing challinging tracks that are perfectly playable in Rapier class.... Phantom class is unplayable for me (or I'm getting old, or the tracks aren't designed for those speeeeds...)

Modesto Heights is my favourite of the regular tracks so far, it's got a nice big jump in it and lots of opportunity for barrel rolls at other places too. I haven't really got to know any of them yet though, and won't consider myself to have done until I can race them at Phantom.

If you like the zone modes then the tracks specifically for those events are great, exactly what you'd hope for with Zone. Pro Topa is like the Wipeout equivalent of the Indianapolis speedway lol.

By the way forget about ever seeing 2097 tracks in this, all the original data for the tracks was lost so apparently they can't recreate any of them. Not to mention the physics is all different these days.

The new tracks all look a bit like eachother. But none of them seem to be as irritating as Vineta and Serenco on anything higher than Flash.

I might have a new favourite track after racing Tech Da Re with doodledude, it flows beautifully. Not particularly technical but the sensation of speed is wonderful. Can't wait to try it on Phantom.

Mixed feelings about Zone Battle, playing it online earlier with a nearly full room was not a particularly fun experience, it was just constant barrier dodging cos there were so many of them being laid down. Later on it was just me vs doodledude and it was much better, it suits smaller numbers I think. (Sorry to leave the room again mate, the real reason is my girlfriend came back from work!)

Oh, and John Parry... what's the score mate! Every time we invited you, you would either switch off your PS3 or start playing something else! You've got nothing to worry about racing with us, none of us are world record holders here. It's all for laughs. Not to mention the nature of wipeout is that even the best racers will end up tootling around at the back from time to time, the weapons make it anyone's game.

With at least three people we could even keep the room locked but when it's just two of us we kinda have to make the room public. Then you run the risk of one of the unbeatable wipeout demigods like seanyweany coming in, lol.

On the trophy front I spent most of the evening trying to get 'Hold your Fire'... I stupidly thought the trophies would be fairly easy as they are all bronze, but this one is a doozy. It's a bit reminiscent of the original 'Own the Zone' trophy, only you have to do it on a track covered in mines >< painful. I got it in the end though!

Good games mate, Zone Battle is better with only a few players, whereas the more players in eliminator the better!.

I've had some good games of eliminator online as well, although winning that event seems more luck than judgement, still good fun and the variety in this and the zone battle definitely helps keep the online more exciting.

Hopefully we can get some players off here together for some NTSC matches.

Presumably they'd have to recreate them from scratch though, right? The original code would be little more than a useful reference. Still, good point about the difference in physics.

Sorry mate, as I explained to you in reply to the first PM you sent, I'm just not interested in the multi-player side of things.

To be fair, you wouldn't have stood a chance when the PS3 went off at 4pm as other people on here will be able to tell you, when there's a rugby match on then nothing else happens!

It was the All Blacks v the Boks so you had no chance! Seriously, it's phones off the hook when there's a rugby match on for pretty much everybody in my family.

We switched the PS3 off the first time as we thought the match was on at 1pm but it's next week's match that starts at that time. We all sat in the garden a few beers as it's been really nice here!

...apart from the match result, which put a bit of a dampener on things!

Ah I was a little confused as I got sent an in-game nudge from you saying you wanted to play online! I guess that was just an accident.

Sorry, probably my fault. I did have a look at the community side of things a couple of times but didn't realise that I'd invited anybody.

I'm quite getting into the game now and I'm really enjoying the new stuff too, what does it mean when you get the Target Depleted message? Is there a way to get a boost start in the game?

I love the new stats section although it seems a bit stupid hiding out of the way in the options instead of the records section.

Doesn't really matter but out of interest, are people using the HD or FURY menu style? I can't decide which I prefer.

Is there a list of unlockables and how to unlock them somewhere? Sorry if one has been posted before but there's 50+ pages and I've not been keeping track of the game.

                        Comment

Well you weren't the only one, Eight Rooks nudged me this afternoon as well and when I messaged him to say I would just finish my current tournament and then join him, he replied that it was a mistake! Woe is me.

I like the original white menu design more but I am sick of the background music, so I'm using the Fury one for the time being.

I asked about it myself earlier but I now think 'target depleted' means the goal for the session has been set lower, I'm not sure what triggers it though - everyone taking too long or crashing too much perhaps?

Not really any need for a list of unlockables, most people went through the campaign and that's where you unlock the tracks for use in racebox, the ship skins are unlocked by earning loyalty points for each team. The Fury skins seem to be awarded via campaign completion rather than loyalty though

This is amazing for an 'add-on'.

The new tracks are great, they feel a litle smoother to race around than HDs' originals - some of those had nasty corners that I just couldn't get my head around whereas here I can get around the tracks without any major mistakes!

I really like Eliminator mode. Getting a decent weapon and then flipping around to face the oncoming craft is like the ultimate two-finger salute. Especially if you manage to take out a couple of competitors!

Considering that, all-in, the WipEout HD package has cost me ?19.98, I'd say it's an absoulte bargain!

Lovely stuff. New tracks are fun, colourful. New music, new menus, new skins, new events, eliminator being by far the best IMO. Spinning 180 degrees and blowing three people up with a quake is about as satisfying as it gets.

I finished the Fury campaign tonight with all golds (on novice), the new tracks will still take some getting used to at Phantom speeds. Especially my former favourite Modesto Heights - the tunnel complex is just a huge pinball session for me right now. I'll probably try for golds at Skilled setting but I'm not touching Elite with a barge pole, there's no reward for it so I'm not putting myself through that misery again. Eliminator at Phantom speed becomes more of a nuisance than an enjoyable diversion from the racing, I think I'll stick to slower speed classes when I want to do one of those online.Since the whole fun of it is taking part in the destruction I didn't want the additional problems of trying to hit the weapon pads and then catch up to the opponents at those speeds.

I wanted to jump into some online races to continue practicing but the lobby makes it pretty hard to tell which rooms feature the new tracks. Also nobody is making Phantom rooms at the moment. I set my own one up but nobody came in.
