Just completed it. There were a few niggling issues, but nothing too major to get in the way of my enjoyment. One of the most cinematic experiences I've ever had in games, it's almost like Ridley Scott was directing it, what with all those gorgeous light flares. I've started to go through it again to unlock a few more achievements (maxing out weapons, etc.). Well done to the developer, hopefully the sales will match it's critical acclaim and we'll see more games of a similar quality coming from there way.

Finished this last night. I don't usually blitz through a game so quickly, but I loved this so much that I put Fable 2 on hold until it was done.

There's a few definite dips in quality though. Some of the zero gravity sections were duff,

      (radioactive basketballs?!)

and I hated the gun-turret sections, not just because they played bad, but because they lifted me right out of the Ishimura's awesome atmosphere. It felt like I was in another game during those bits.

They're my only real moans though. It's such a brilliantly paced, beautifully made game. The design of the Ishimura is amaze, one of the best realised settings ever for a game I reckon.

      So...yeah...I loved it.

Just finished this and my earlier impressions still stand up, absolutely loved it!

The ending was a bit cliche and the final battle was rather easy but as an overall package Dead Space is just superb. It's amazing how even though your are in a spaceship that the environments did not seem repetitive or tiresome at all, the Ishimura is just a superb setting. The pacing of the game, the tension, the scares are all just brilliantly done.

An early contender for my Game of the Year

By far the best game I have played in a long while. Up to Chapter 4 on the

          canon bit.

Having a bit of trouble, have died twice, guess you just have to keep at it. Graphics are sublime, gameplay is outstanding, what more could you ask for? For once EA have out done themselves!

I found with that I kept dying as I was only using RT instead of using LT and RT to fire. Once I worked that out it was a piece of cake.

One of the most polished cinematic game experiences out there currently in my opinion. Absolutely loved the game and story. Voice acting is spot on - somehow it's very Bioshock and I love that.

            9/10 from my balls.

Ah ok, I'll give that a shot. Should be a little bit easier then, I just love walking through the corridors and the creepy music automatically kicks in. One bit in particular I loved is

when your coming out of one of the lifts and you see a guy swaying in the door way then you move forward and he moves away, you move in there only to find nothing.

Everything about this game is just brilliant!!

I've just brought this after hearing so many good reviews for it and I adore it. The atmosphere is amazing, aswell as the lighting and sound.

I'm only up to the start of chapter 2 and I can't wait to play on.

                  Finished it.

                  Loved every second of it.

                  Started it again!!

The voice acting has the occasional rough spot, and it's not absolutely top flight (Ryan's speech in Bioshock is absolutely miles ahead of anything in this) but like everything else in the game it's still way better than you might expect. I got Dead Space at the same time as Far Cry 2 and the difference between the voice cast in each is shocking. Dead Space is not up to System Shock 2, either; there's no real characterisation and EA miss out on really developing any little subplots... but I still care. I just beat Chapter 10 and I actually cared what just happened, so they must be doing something right.

Just picked this up at the weekend. All I can do is echo what's been said already. The atmosphere is so spot on it feels great just being there and doing things at a relaxed (as relaxed as you can be when you hear a skitter behind you) pace. The mechanics feel rock solid, giving the combat plenty of satisfying precision.

On paper (Resi 4 style gameplay in a Space Horror setting) I can't believe I didn't go for this on launch day (I went for Fable II instead).

I just downloaded a new suit from Xbox LIVE which I'm looking forward to trying but I don't want to be atrificially over-powered. Hmmmm.

I did first two levels yesterday and adored every minute of it. Only ill health stopped me playing rest of the day. Incredible game, up for GOTY contender and I knew nowt about it till release. Im glad I started on this yesterday instead of Fallout 3 (wanted a game to play and finish before GOW2 came out and Fallout is too big). Seems a big game as well. Im playing on hard and it took me 2and half hours to do first 2 levels although I was checking every area. Graphics and lighting I thought where awe inspiring as is the acting. Tha audio effects and music just remind me of playing Alien really with its loads of little creaks etc.. very atmospheric and jumped a few times already. Also the reason its taken me longer as was quite hesitent to enter new areas for fear of heart attack lol

Only thing I didnt like at first was the controls. Very res evil 4 and abit clunky but I put that down to him being in a big suit and that soon wore off. So did the slight tingle of motion sickness as I got used to it thankfully

Only to be played in the dark though!

Its not a massive game, but it is longer than the average, On normal the game took me just under 10 hours to complete and I explored most places at length, but aparently hard is alot harder so will probabaly take you alot longer than that.

Has anyone played this on PC?

I fancy it but I'm starting to hear the usual about installs misfiring etc., etc.

                            Can anyone offer any reassurance...?

I started on hard and gave up on Saturday night at end of 1st hour as ran out of ammo quite early on its reason I started on Fallout 3 on Sunday then went back to it (I didnt get to grips with the limb system at first not only that hard takes alot more bullets to dismember em).

Redid 1st level on normal on Sunday and it was way too easy, took me half the time to do the level and was shoving health packs in storage and had oodles of ammo left. I didnt get the sense of dread of having to reload or running out like I did on hard it lost that edge so went back and restarted. The mobs just werent as scarey on normal as they where too easy to kill. I did more searching due to restarting on hard and found more ammo in a toilet and its been like it since on a knife edge if I can get enough ammo and keep going on hard which is what I want.

                                Im having no problems.

Its an awesome game. It's very System Shock like and It's probably one of the best games i've played this year. Im so glad about that as well. I had really hyped myself up on this. I watched the comics on Xbox live, i watched the Downfall movie and then played the game.

                                Fortunately i wasn't disapointed

                                Haven't finished it yet though.
