Regarding 5.1 sound, are there any decent headphones you chaps could recommend?

I'll be playing this on my 360 in a room at the back of my garden at night and want to make sure that the sound is top notch.

Just started playing this on impossible, it seems to require more ammo to sever enemy limbs and you lose alot more energy when hit but there dosent seem to be any more bad guys in the game than on normal so far.

Also have a question...

I downloaded the free elite suite from market place, using this wont effect me getting the achievments will it?

I use the MedUSA 5.1 bins. Not bad, and cheap.

Got to Chapter 5 last night.

I think Chapter 4 was one of the best so far. Playing on Normal I'm really having to be careful with Ammo and health now!

Bridge section was awesome, after being inside small areas so long, so suddenly have the vast expanse of space, with a meteor field, was amazing. The Captains pod was cool too.

A special mention to the

space walk to the lazer cannon. This was a really enjoyable section, the build up was so Star Wars, with maybe the best walls I've seen in a SCI-FI game? It felt like I was really in the "Outer reaches" of the ship, ready to take a walk outside. Brilliant!

on the ships deck, I needed 3 tries to do it, as it was only on my second try that I clued that you can use the grav gun to get to air tanks on the side. I wasn't thinking in 3d!

Then onto

the boulder section. How cool was that! I needed 3 attempts (Normal) and I'd say they tweaked the difficultly to be perfect here. Again, it's a tactical part, you must not overheat the gun, and you need to only aim for the groups of astroids and leave some small ones alone, otherwise you'll miss the more important ones. Cool stuff.

see's the story start to develop, and I am getting huge Bioshock de ja vu, which is not a bad thing.

Superb game, and I'm really enjoying it. I hope it carries on at this pace until the very end.

I picked up some Sharkoon X-Tatic 5.1's for ?55+delivery from scan.co.uk the other day. I'd recommend them, especially for the price.

Soz to go off topic a bit but am i right in asssuming the 5.1 head phones will only work if you have a TV that can out put 5.1? Or does the Headphone socket naturally out put such a signal?

Was watching my mate play this last Friday, and it does look lush doesnt it? I luv that beam of light which tells you where to go and the fact that you can pan around the options, in the hologram state. It really does look cool, like a next gen game should be.

They plug straight into the optical output on the 360.

OH........... i see............ does the PS3 have one? i know the PS2 did, but i think the optical out port might have been ommited.

Why do i feel so noob like all of a sudden lol....... Will hafta see if i can pick up a decent pair when i head over to the states in November......

The PS3 definetly has one. The optical input on the 360 would be on the component cable, if your using HDMI you will either need to mod a component cable or have the adapter that comes with the official hdmi kit. If you have an Elite it should come with it.

I finished Dead Space yesterday evening - it is the first game I have completed since Metal Gear Solid 4.

Unfortunately, the ending is a clich? and is rather predictable once you reach the last few chapters but the final scene you see before the credits start rolling is something the game didn?t need - it is a very tacky and cheesy way to close the experience.

However, even until the closing stages, I have been consistently impressed with how polished and thoughtfully crafted the whole game is.

From the audio, text and video logs to keep the story flowing to the hundredth time you shoot your way through yet another encounter with the necromorphs, it is kept at such a well maintained pace to keep the player engrossed with the game.

Even though it is not a very original story - just watch Event Horizon to see where 90% of the games inspiration comes from - I rated this as one of the best game I have played this year and I am definitely going to go through the game again at some point.

A good solid 8/10 from me.

Great to see that we are not alone in our appreciation for this fantastic game.

NTSC just gave a 9, in a review that is almost identical to my own impressions.

By rights it really, really should have been awful. After Skate it's probably the most surprising title to come out of EA in a long time.
