Got back into this last week after a long haitus since before Xmas. I'd pretty much left off the main quest before just Tranquility Lane because I was having so much fun exploring.

Visited every location now, that was the biggest thing for me, I just loved exploring each location on the map, I did have to make an effort to finish off the main story because it felt so Oblivion-y, but the exploration is where it really shines above Oblivion for me, I dunno if it's the setting, the landscape, the lore or what, but I never got bored of scouting every location in Fallout like I did Oblivion (which i loved, but when you've seen one ruined dungeon, you've seen 'em all right?)

Gonna pass up on the first DLC since it seems like a bad FPS from what I've read, but really looking forward to what else they have to offer.

This feels like the Never Ending Game. My game clock now says in excess of 110 hours played and I’ve still not finished. I’ve not even considered buying any of the DLC as the main game still has loads to see and do.

I’m up to the point in the story where the
arrive and from when I escaped I just decided to scour the map for new locations and the sheer amount is staggering and some, although having no official quest, are really effective in giving insights as t what happened there via journal recordings, computer terminals etc. and picked up some really nice rewards just by checking every last inch of the maps.

I think special mention has to be go out to the Dunwich Building. I’m just thankful I had a follower with me in that place as it creeped me out big time. Starts off nice enough then comes the brief

flash on the screen showing the building in it’s original state

and then I was on edge for the entire time I was in there. It gets darker and darker, weird **** like

        doors opening on their own

and I’m sure I heard voices echoing through the darkness. Was so happy to get out of there but got a

        bobblehead

        for my trouble.

Vault 106 was a similar mind **** experience too but at least you eventually learn that there is a reason for that. Dunwich is just creepiness with a true supernatural twist.

And I’ve still got the entire East and North East sections of the map to explore yet…

I decided to 'temporarily' stop playing this to try out Oblivion to see why peeps favour that more than fallout 3. I think i should rinse Fallout 3 somemore before i start Oblivion, its jus as Bloody mahoosvie and being the GOTY edition means its riddiculous longer lol..........

thanks 'C' for reminding me what i need to play next in my never ending pile of games i need to play before God beckons..........

Oh and ive put in an equally insane amount of hours on this too, and Ive only jus discovered rivet city in my last play through.......

Careful with the new DLC (The Pitt) works for some and freezes for others. Basically, some random variable is causing it to freeze in the same spot near the start for loads of people. Bought the 'fixed' version last week and haven't been able to approach the second objective. Bethesda have gone quiet and pissed quite a few people off.

              Just a heads up.

After a shakey start a few months back when I gave up after being toasted by fire ants for the 100th time I just started this again and to say it's clicked this time is an understatement.

This time I went pretty much directly to Megaton and gathered a load of momentum from there. Now I spend every spare moment playing ... and think about it the moments I'm not

Like the best rpgs there's nothing more satisfying than returning to the site of a beatdown when you're a little big stronger and better equipped. Sweet justice

Could anyone give me some idea of roughly when you get your dog?

I played through the storyline and a LOAD of side quests and never found him, so that's not really possible to answer.

Ah, okay ... I was under the impression he joined you as part of the main quest chain. Thanks for clearing that up

You find "Dogmeat" in the Junkyard

it's on the bottom section of the map, to the east.

                          It might be worth waiting to level up some before you go looking for the dog. I found him fairly early into my game and he didn't last five minutes before some mean horrible raiders killed him ;_;

It's a dog, unfortunately he doesn't last too long regardless of his level - he won't take a direct hit from a rocket launcher for example.

As I chose the path of a good character I ended up with
as my follower. Feels damn near like I've got a cheat mode activated
