And make sure you buy either an Environment Suit or a Rad Suit, and dose yourself up on Rad-X first. Thar's isotopes in them thar waters!
Also: C: what's this
motherbrain
you were on about? I cleared out that location fairly well and didn't see anything like that. Although TBH I soon got the gist of the identikit dungeon-style layout and buggered off as soon as I found the item in question.
Also, there's a second item in that place that she asks for, if you didn't pick it up already. You can also find one in the
big library (Arlington?)
and occasionally on the junk trader's caravan if you can't be bothered to go back under...

The
Motherbrain was another robot defending the Vault-Tec HQ that seemed slightly more resiliant than the earlier drones. I may be remembering the name wrong but it was definitely named differently and was even mentioned on one of the computer terminals in the building
Defeating it provided an option to
disable all other sentry drones in the building but by that point I'd destroyed all but one already.

I discovered
Vault 112I was convinced id never find Dad again lol!
yesterday........ i didnt realise how far behind i was with the quest, as ive been doing side missions ever since i let vault 101! lol.........
what a cool lil idea of going into the simulation, i didnt realise there were a number of ways to do Bettys 'tasks' But i figured out the combination in the abandoned house to reveal the hidden terminal
Anyways, ive saved Dad and im accompanying him to Rivet City, which im not sure is a good idea, as he is taking me through uncharted territory which id like to discover on my own and take my time. Also the game crashed TWICE when accompanying him! The game has not crashed once yet, till i met the ole bast!
Regarding the woman in Megaton who
gives you freebees its directly related to the bomb thing, as i didnt disarm the bomb until about 20 hours in
Im trying to do the game as a goodie 2 shoes so there ARE benefits........ i think.
Just did the
factory with all the deformed Chinese soldiers, as SO much fun using VATS and taking them out 1 by 1, my fave level so far!
Still luvin this game! Im tryna see as much as i can without progressing the mission too much, im at Level 10 at the moment and have the VATs
helper/sniper
lol..........

me Pah!
Well i got 3 quarters of the way till the thing crashed on me! Then i gave up and went to bed!
Got to say though, having a companion is hit and miss, i mean i DON'T fight everyone i encounter..........
Can anyone tell me if i am far into the quest if i jus met
Dad?

I'm kinda at the same point you are, 112. My last save was just outside of the Vault with the virtual reality thingy.
There are six more quests to do in the main storyline, apparently.

As for house themes, I'd be able to answer that if I could afford any of them. The most money I've had at any one point was 2500 caps, and I went and spent most of it on repairs for my guns and armour and stuff.

The rest of the stuff for your house is a mixed bag. The jukebox is useless since you can just use your Pip-boy radio and the infirmary is pretty pointless as well seeing as you can just sleep to regain health / heal limbs. The work bench might be useful if you've stashed a lot of junk in your house though.
