I just got through this on the 360, I played nothing else for a good solid month so prepare to be taken over!

I think lockpick, science and speech are good ones to level up quite early as that'll help you with the respective achievements/trophies and finding a locked door or computer that you're not skilful enough to open/hack is annoying.

After those I mainly concentrated on weapon stats. Oh and repair as well, I didn't boost that early which made it harder to keep my weapons in good condition. Worrying about boosting the wrong stats is something I do during games like this and Oblivion too, but I don't think you can go too far wrong just playing it by ear.

There's a quest later on where you can go back into vault 101 and pick up the bobblehead from your dad's desk if you missed it at the start of the game.

Just put this game back in my ps3, not played it since its release and I can't believe that trophies have now been added! You telling me I now have to play through it all again to get them. Bethesda you *****!

I fired up the GOTY today and it took me a few attempts to realise what I had to do in order to carry on! I'm terrible at picking up games after a while away (About eight months at a guess this time), so I deleted my level 18 character to start again.

I'm going in with the intention of being bad this time out... but I'm sure I'll find it impossible as always.

I'm going to go through as many side quests as I can this time out, aim to complete the main quest at around level 20. Won't touch any of the DLC quests until after that time either.

Time to plan my next build, then make the long run down to Rivet City again for the Intelligence Bobblehead.

I've got MW2 and Forza 3 to play, but I'm pretty addicted to Fallout 3!

I've just done the Big Trouble in Little Big Town mission and loved it.

              I heart this game.

Yeah, I fully expect to lose myself in it all over again. I also fully expect to build pretty much the same character that I did last time out.

Hmmm... I wonder if I bought the GotY edition if it'd pick up my game saves (PS3)?

I'm really good in this and I love the way Three Dog keeps telling people of my exploits.

It does, aye (I would go for the same region, just to be safe). That's what I did today... but as I finished playing it nine months ago I found it hard to get back into it. Hence deleting my saves and starting over.

EDIT: Can someone remind me if you're forced to take perks at each level up, or can you save them?

I've been playing this nonstop for the last couple of months - have managed most of the side quests before taking on the main quest at level 20.

I've stopped for now as I want to get the addin that let's me go to level 30 before finishing the main quest.

one thing I absolutely recommend is the perk that gives you an extra skill point when you read books. I did find towards the end none of perks were that appealing to me. The sniping one is pretty good and the one that increase the gore factor is pretty funny.

                      Top game.

I'm going to build around these perks:
                        • Level 2: Black Widow
                        • Level 3: Gun Nut
                        • Level 4: Educated
                        • Level 5: Comprehension
                        • Level 6: Toughness
                        • Level 8: Commando
                        • Level 10: Finesse
                        • Level 12: Sniper
                        • Level 16: Better Criticals
                        • Level 17: Action Girl
                        • Level 18: Concentrated Fire
                        • Level 20: Grim Reaper's Sprint

With the emphasis being on huge-critting headshots from range. I'll probably fill the gaps with some stealth perks and Intense Training to get some of the S.P.E.C.I.A.L stats up.

Bought the GOTY edition yesterday, but hadn't opened it since I was mulling over how to approach it. I didn't want to play the DLC straight away, so initially I decided to start again like everybody else here. However, that plan has gone out the window and I'm continuing with my level 20 fighter. As much as I would have liked to be bad in my second playthrough, I wouldn't have cared enough to require a 2nd run through the game and there is a lot of end-game stuff I've yet to do, so I hope to mop up the remaining quests and do the DLC packs in-between and that should get me several dozen hours of game-time and I'll be happy.

I've just explored a bit more and it's still a superb game, though there was the odd stutter. Definitely looking forward to playing the DLC packs over the next few weeks.

All I've done so far is the initial scenarios and run the gauntlet down to Rivet City for the Intelligence Bobblehead. Warped back to the exit from Vault 101 after that, so tonight I'll start the game proper.

I really should've played this sooner but I was worried it would consume my life.

I've been late to bed every time I've played it doing "one more thing" and been late for work having a little go in the mornings. My original fears of obsession have been confirmed!

Last night I sorted out Paradise Falls. Nobody makes people slaves on my watch. Paid my way in, scoped the place out, spoke to the kids then wiped the place out and freed all the slaves (except the hard-of-hearing old guy who thinks I'm asking where the clinic is every time I tell him he's free!).

Apparently this is part of the main quest, but on my search for Nuka Cola Quantum I returned to lay down some vengeance.

I guess a trip to Little Lamplight is in order now!

How did people handle the tree in the Oasis quest?

Hehe, I remember I killed the tree, came up to the surface and massacred everyone inside, bloody hippies. I was an evil bastard in this. I even enslaved a lot of people for Paradise Falls, it pays much better than the guy who collects ears. Might have to play it again as a good guy, would be a completely different experience for me.
