Call of Duty: World at War

I just finished this. Amazing game all round but MonkeyWrench you are right, it feels, i dont know, empty at the end. The US mission really did seem like something was missing. I know it showed in video about Hiroshima and all, but it would of been amazing to play it out somehow.

Zombie mode is amazing! Its just so much fun. But It really does feel out of place. People were complaining about a little bit of guitar riffs, but to me this is worse. Not so much the mode, but what it says when you unlock it. It says something along the lines of "You thought you buried all those nazis in the reichag, but..." now to me thats just wrong. WW2 was such a historic event, and especially after ending the game saying how over 60 million lives were lost, this comment made me upset. It just seems disrespectful. That said it is a fun mode, and one i will spend a lot of time on, just that comment made me upset.

All in all its a top game and i will be platinuming this for sure. I'm 65% so far so not much longer.

I hope after Modern Warfare 2 they go back to WW2 again and explore the other situations. Pearl Harbour, Hiroshima (in gameplay form) etc. I love WW2 shooters. Something about playing out history rather than fake modern stuff is just so exciting. 9/10 from me.

"Die Nacht der Untoten" is the best games bonus i can think of for such a game and certainly much better than the Arcade Mode in CoD4.

i managed to survive 12 levels on my own and 14 with a buddy. it's just a pity that your scores wont add to your XP meters. is it true that the number of levels are endless?

Apparently there's a glitch in the mode which has allowed people to progress much further than they otherwise would and it caps at level 999. I've only had one quick go of the mode as I ended up with a bunch of plebs. Seemed well done though, all my time goes on Headquarters though as I'm an XP whore

haha..me and my 2 mates really suck then as we can only get to level 8. its never me that dies tho as i patiently mind my post as they go 'nothing coming this way' then run off elsewhere.

Treyarch really need to issue an update to stop the dirty cheating bastards glitching on the Castle map before something in my head snaps and I hunt them down like the dogs they are. Reporting the swines just doesn't swing it. I want to see them crushed, see them driven before me, and hear the lamentation of their women.

I swear there is cheating going on, the other day there was a guy with three times as many kills as anyone else with zero deaths. I unloaded entire clips into his head before he just turned around and shot me once - even in my death cam I could see I was shooting him. Bah.

Still going through single player, up to Relentless on Vet and finding it incredibly difficult. Wish I had gone through on normal first just to get a taste of what the game is like (Vet just seems like grenade spam city, with the occasional bit of luck that moves you to the next checkpoint), but there is no way I'm dropping out now.

I've not played much of this online to see that, but today I did have a go on COD4 and much he same thing was going on there - 5 headshots and they didn't die, kept getting the health perk. Stabbed 3 times, didn't die and numerous other pad throwing moments of frustration with online play. It wasn't just one person though. Most annoy moment was I was in a dead end and someone from the other side got behind me and killed me, and it was at OUR spawn point XD

I finished COD5 on Hardened and it was very very tough indeed - far tougher than I remember COD4 being!

This 99% connection issue. Hosts can also have a slight advantage. If you r signal strenght is not Green, you can unload clips and get nowhere, always best to quit and start another online game

Because Activision are one of these companies that likes to keep strict control over how people use a product they have purchased.

They also do not understand that coop is a way that people may only play the game.

My Brother bought me this for Christmas.

Its such a shame the gameplay is stuck in the same Era as the the game is set. HD graphics do not hide the lackluster gameplay.
I don't know why they don't just set the entire game underground, because all the levels are still tunnels. Evey single one being a linear slog through poor level design, uninteresting scripted moments and poor AI whilst being spawned on and grenade spammed. But that just about sums up every COD game.
Its a poor, frustrating game and i don't understand why we still stand for it because I've played this game before, why do i have to keep playing it over and over again. Its boring.

I just finished the solo campaign on normal about an hour ago,been playing it for a couple of days.

I enjoyed it very much even though it was a slog to get through at times,i don't know why people bother comparing it to COD4,as to me it has a completely differant atmosphere.It is much more darker and somber than COD4 and i think in terms of the campaign equal in every respect.

I have to say the last levels in Berlin are quite something and i was so impressed by the look and feel of everything,raising the Soviet flag on top of the Reichstag was a real moment!
For me easily the best COD mission in any game,just when the whistle blew,stunning!

At the end of the day it's just a game and i just hope that when people finish it,they kinda think about what went on in that dreadfull conflict and all the men and women that gaves their lives so we can talk about it today!

As first impressions go, I thought this started okay... but then it quickly sweeped me under its binding spell and steadily intensified to an incredible (really, incredible) climatic finish. What an ending and what a brilliant game...Personally, I don't share much of the critisims expressed here. I love how hectic it all was, so much destrustion, so much chaos, and it always felt like you were stuck right in the middle of it. It gets ridculously hard too, and its all the better for it.

The Russain levels clearly stand out as the best (they’ve seen and will continue to see mulitple replays), however the American stages are solid too.

Anyone played the Wii version of this? I’ve played that a fair bit too and although the 360 version is undoutbaly the superior version, what with the visuals and extra content, as Wii shooters go, this is pretty spot on. Visually it’s a solid shooter and does well to capture the franticness of war.... and the controls are swift, precise and made returning back to the 360 version a little daunting! Certainly worth a go.

Just finished the solo campaign. Not bad, but not great. Very much a call of duty game not trying to do anything different and very much by the numbers. Thats what i expected though so wasn't disappointed - really just bought it as a popcorn game.

The last level stood out though - very atmospheric.

Wasn't sure where else to post this - I was just looking through some of the global leaderboards at the top people and most people have a KDR of around 2 on average I would say. One guy had a KDR of 5.33! 50,000-odd kills and 10,000-odd deaths! I remember seeing similar players on COD4 as well. Just how on earth do you do that? I mean to maintain that as an average is just incredible!

Is anyone else playing multiplayer? I've only just started to get into it since I've had time off over Xmas. The spawning can be a real nightmare sometimes - I will literally just spawn in front of opposing team members and of course I'm dead before I've even had a chance to realise. It seems to happen a lot more in this COD than 4.

The weapons seem generally okay, relatively well balanced, but most people seem to favour machine guns. The most common weapon I would say is either the MP40 or the STG44. Not many people seem to be using the bolt action rifles. I seem to be doing pretty well with either the SVT-40 or the Gewehr semi-auto rifles though (admittedly haven't unlocked the STG44 yet).
