Thanks for the impressions, the missus is getting me it for christmas. I have yet to make any use of the fact I have a Jap machine.

The only reason I have it is because 2 years ago when I wanted a 360 a premium was still £280, and I picked up a used Jap premium off ebay for £159 with a copy of RR6. The added bonus is (touch wood) its been reliable as sin, never frozen once.

Your more than welcome it's a prefect christmas pressie...just dont let the Mrs watch the intro...mine for some reason seems to assume my only reason for wanting the game is the big breasted Anime ladies lol

As for the Jpn 360 I've had mine since just before christmas 2006 which I bought second hand from Bleeders on here for ?200 with 8 games including Senko No Ronde which at the time was my sole reason for wanting an Import & like yours it's been utterly faultless & worth every penny it is deffinitley my best console purchase ever.

I'm itching to get home & have another go now...poxy work getting in the way

You and me both as in you are gonna get the box set with the stick? or that you're getting a 360 just for this game (aswell as the other amazing shooters out there)?
              Kept you waiting, huh?

Are you getting the boxset? Thats amazing dedication if you are especially getting the 360 as well. Wish I could!

LoL no, i'm not getting the stick. I'm not impressed by it, it looks nice enough but that touch screen thing looks a bit naff. I could never afford all that. :P

Is that the original price for the stick before it started to get limited? Its over double what Steel Battalion was.

I'd have loved the boxset but even before the Rate dropped it was roughly £170 which was far too much for me.

Had it been around the £100 mark I'd have snapped it up.

Odlly enough Eurogamer have actually done a pretty decent review for this

Hmmm not a bad review at all there...nice to see it getting a realitivley high score as well.

Played this a bit more last night...finding I'm sticking to arcade mode mostly at the mo because it's a tad more forgiving with the scenery not instantly killing you like in Gorgeous mode.

Played the Egypt level last night & it's so far my best looking level.
loving the flying Sarcophagus's they look great & the background looks very detailed.
Best bit though is easily the mumified Penguins in the Pyramid section lol
The boss on the level is pretty much a straight rip off of part of the boss on the first level of Gradius 5 (The middle bit where you have to shoot out the beams in the middle before aiming for the dead centre to blow it up)

Something else I noticed as well was the Game Over logo is written using the Gradius Font

Hows the music? I love the music in the original Parodius games.

The music is excellent. Definitely one of the game's best qualities.

The Arcade mode is slightly different though in that I seemed to survive many scrapes with the scenary & the odd bullet hit too I think there is a sort of life bar in that mode??
The Original mode gives you shield energy as standard, which once it's gone is gone. In the Gorgeous mode it plays more like Gradius where one of the weapon options (the end one) will give you a shield if you select it.

                                Well it finally arrived today!

First thing that surprised me was the size of the thing. It's close to twice the size of my Fighting Stick EX2. I think it weighs twice the size n'all! It's very heavy.

The stick and buttons are, as far as i'm aware, authentic Sanwa parts which might explain some of the cost. The touchpad takes a little bit of getting used to as far as menu navigation and in-game use is concerned, but when you get it down it's very nice to use.

Onto the game itself then, and immediately i've got to say Original mode is where it's at. I've not spent much time on Gorgeous mode at all but the level selection and difficulty selection of Original mode, coupled with the way burst attacks work, mean i've been spending a lot more time there. It seems like Original mode is the true Otomedius while Gorgeous mode is more like Parodius in an Otomedius theme. That's how I feel about it anyway....

It's fun. It's very good fun. Tokyo on Hard was a challenge for me and I love that. It's very happy happy and uplifting to play.

Did I mention those burst attacks?

The fact that you get more weapons the longer you play too is a great thing.

Soundwave and Kubrick, mind adding me to your friends list? Denjin K is my gamertag. I want to try the co-op play with a few of you.
