It's quite novel playing a 360 game with zero English. I keep getting achievements without any clue what I have done so I hope someone does a full translation.

I'll have a look at Kubrick's achievement list and see what I can figure out for you.

My copy of this arrived at the weekend and I finally had a go yesterday afternoon.

Very much a Parodius / Gradius type of game with wonderful presentation. It's nice to play a game with such bright, colourful graphics these days. It feels very old fashioned to play but I don't mind that at all to be honest.

Thank goodness for the menu translations provided by FamiDude or I would probably still be trying to find single player mode!

Finally went on this last night and cant see any problems with it. I didnt think I would like it (was more a impulse buy of I need another shump to go with Raiden IV and Aces) as I aint a huge horizontal shooter fan really as I always find they go into puzzle mode with dodging scenery wheras I adore my verticals for bullet dodging but I was really impressed with this.

For me it has that harmfull park/parodious vibe of course with Gradius weaponary. It isnt amazing Id say a solid 7 but it aint pap either. Ive been playing standard mode mainly for an hour and just 1cc as far as I can go. Seems to have alot of longevity on that mode as you can level up.

Obviously get your Raiden IV and Aces first and for me I wouldnt bother with the stick unless you dont have one as you dont need it you just use the cursor (I dont think gorgeous mode even has that anyway of touching and moving).

Lovely graphics and music as well and it aint a manic shump

Its very cute m8 typical style same as the creatures theirs penguins and all sorts. It definetly isnt as classic as Parodious or the amazing harmfull park but Id say its solid and not the turd I was expecting after reading some peeps comments. It is a serious shock to the system though as for first hour I just didnt have a clue what I was doing as its full japanese but its ended up being great to be back to that steep learning curve again.

Funnily enough though it did make me source a new Gradius V from USA for my USA PS3 heh

Yeah I don't understand the bad vibe against this. If anything after reading all the bad comments, it surpassed my expectations. If you liked Parodius you will find something in this. It has a really clean visual look with some great music and presentation.

Like Dazzy says, a good solid 7, or an 8 if you really, really like your cute-emp-ups. Eurogamer's review is probably the fairest I have read.

Can someone explain to me the system behind original and how do you unlock/buy things?

I know you can charge up burst, once that is done do you move the pointer over an enemy or a good area then quickly tap the burst key?

You unlock the weapon and illustration gallery cards by playing Original mode, but to earn the "money" you need to buy them, you need to play Gorgeous mode.

How do you earn money in Gorgeous mode? I've finished it with two characters on Gorgeous and i haven't earned a dime.

I do like the difficulty of this game, its got a nice balance. Its piss easy compared to Gradius V, but the last boss is 'ouch'.

Go into the Shop and you'll see how much you have. The results screen that appears after each level and at game over shows how many credits you earned during a level/credit. How much you get is based on performance and difficulty level so earning S-ranks on Hard or Very Hard is the way to go.
