I'll get you in on a game in a second mate.

For the record you're showing up as offline to me.

There is one thing I do LOVE about this game, and that's when you've started a Gorgeous mode multiplayer game, it's drop-in drop-out. I started a multiplayer co-op session, started the game by myself, and Japanese players were joining half way through.

It was also completely lagless, and I have no idea how they've done that. It's practically GGPO in shoot-em-up form. While I could see them warping about a little bit, my controls were lagless, and by the look of things the game was perfectly synced.

I'm trying very hard to ignore this thread, I have the LE put away for Christmas.

By all accounts its a pretty average shooter but I'm a bit of an STG fanboy and I want to at least try it as I'm not likely to play it anywhere else. A cute-em-up will make a nice change, and theres something very awesome about that Hori. I just wish I paid upfront in July >_<

I don't think there's much that's very average about it, personally.

As I said in my original post, I feel that Gorgeous Mode is just a reskinned Gradius/Parodius. It's a shame that this is the only mode with co-operative online play.

Original Mode seems to have so much more substance to it! It's not a set chain of levels, it's not a set difficulty, you do the levels in the difficulty and the order you want to do them in. You have the Burst Attack system and even though it isn't widescreen like Gorgeous mode, or doesn't even have achievements like Gorgeous mode, it's a LOT more fun and that's where the game should be majorly played once the achievements have been earned for Gorgeous mode.

Original mode also has Vs. Score Attack play, where you go into a 3 player boss rush and you're all competing for the highest score in 10 minutes.

Also, sorry for upping the difficulty for you there Kubrick. Thought it would be a good idea to get the co-op game started on Hard. Two deaths before the stage started told me it wasn't such a hot idea.

Was probably a good idea, I just had never played Hard mode before so those suicide bullets took me by surprise

Can only agree about the lack of lag. It seems perfect, even when playing with JP players.

Just credit fed my way through Gorgeous Mode. It took me 5 credits in total. Wow, that last level is really good! The music to it and the theme of it is wonderful, but that final boss is a complete bastard!

There aren't any conditions to hit to get second loop, but you can't continue AT ALL on second loop so you die, that's it.

The game really isn't as easy as it leads you to believe in the first few levels, and Gorgeous mode still presents quite a challenge.

I've spent the last 7 or so hours playing this, and i'm still really, really enjoying it.

Almost all of this time has been spent in Original mode.

My character of choice has been Diol Twee because of her D-Burst attack which has quickly become my favourite. Almost no charge up time and the destruction it causes is immense. I've managed to finish the South Pole stage alone with over 500k simply by spamming the D-Burst on the section made entirely of destroyable ice cubes, collecting all the items, getting my bursts back and spamming them again.

None of this is in Gorgeous mode!

I've also been trying to figure out what the elements do. All I know is that each of the 4 beginning areas in original mode belongs to a certain element, and each of the characters, depending on the weapon loadout you give them, also have an element. These affect the enemy strengths and weaknesses, so you can do much better by giving yourself a complete Water loadout on Tokyo, which is classed as a Fire element level. At least this is my understanding, someone correct me if i'm wrong.

Either way, this complete gameplay element is missing from Gorgeous mode.

D-Bursts are missing from Gorgeous mode.

Character levels are missing from Gorgeous mode.

Even the auto-fire present in original mode isn't in Gorgeous mode.

There's quite a lot of substantial content that's missing from Gorgeous mode, and anybody starting off on that is going to think it's a little bit sub-standard really.

                  So. Original mode then.

Your first time playing you will only be able to start off on Normal difficulty levels. As you play, you gain Experience points which are judged by the amount of elemental pickups you get, aswell as your rank in finishing the levels. The more you level up, the more you unlock. There's one level on the map that i've not yet been able to play because you need to be a certain rank for it (I'm assuming so anyway), and now i've played a little bit more I can now start off on Hard and Expert without having to play a Normal difficulty level first.

Every single time you game over, you're given a card. These can be puzzle cards (no idea what these do yet) or weapon cards, which will unlock another character's weapon for use with the character you were just playing as.

It reminds me of both Ghost Squad and R-Type Final. Every ship in the game is paying homage to something of Konami's, whether it's Gradius, Salamander, or even Xexex (Serenity Viper's ship is from this, even the D-Burst is exactly the same), you level up as you play, you rank up, you unlock more as you go along. It's really, really damn good fun.

It's just incredibly frustrating why this was all taken out of Gorgeous mode...

This is going to sound like a really daft question, but has anyone tried this game on a European or US 360? I know it's almost certain to be region locked, but it would be nice to have confirmation.

I've been quite enjoying this, I was a bit meh at first but I'm warming to it.

Whats the deal with original mode and the level selection? It always seems to end abruptly after 3-4 levels without getting to any conclusion, whereas Gorgeous mode plays all levels out.

Is there tasks to perform in Orginial Mode to progress further?

Tried it on a PAL console and it doesn't work, I'm afraid.

Boooo! Anyone want to swap my 15 month old boxed PAL Elite (minus HDD) with receipt for an Asian Arcade? It comes with 1 official wireless black controller, 1 official black headset, HDMI cable and PSU.

This looks great, but I'm not so keen on Hori shooters, I prefer Verts.

Think I'll wait for this to end up on the For Sale folder (if it ever does!)

Anyone know what size this is when installing to the HDD? Have this arriving next week and am hoping it will fit on the 6Gb or so I have left.

3.4GB, so you've plenty of room
