Overall this is a defo no by for me in this state, just feels very very outdated to me.
By that theory we should never play Resident Evil 4 again

It's resi 4, in High Def, with some extra moves, and online and offline co-op. That's way more of an evolution than most game series get. If you didn't like Resi 4 you won't like this. If you thought Resi 4 was GOTY then you ought to be more than happy with 5 from what i've played.

Thing is though did anyone really ask for or even want a co-op Resi Evil game ? I must admit I had a blast with it the other day with a mate of mine but it never really comes across as something that suits the Resi Evil experience. Saying that it'll be interesting to see what Capcom will come up with setpiece wise for the co-op.

Heck, for all we know she might only be in it for one or two chapters. Although seeing as when you pick up items you can decide who gets them, I imagine coop will account for quite a fair chunk of the game, if not the entire thing.

It's co-op throughout the game afaik.

It is available on the Japanese Xbox 360 Marketplace (for gold members). There is no PSN demo.

It's now locked for anyone outside japan though. It'll just say you're in the wrong region if you try to download it, even with a gold jp account. Same thing happened with the Ninja Gaiden 2 demo where it was available for a short time before the filters kicked in.

I played RE4 again a couple of months ago. It was still great. A friend of mine played it for the first time ever earlier this year and was blown away, so it can't have dated that much. The controls are an important part of why it works, I think. If you could jump around all over the place and run rings around the ganados it wouldn't be anywhere near as tense as it is. Of course, a developer shouldn't include broken controls just to make a game harder, but RE4's controls are far from broken in the first place, I reckon.

Ideally Capcom would update the controls in RE5 to give us more freedom while somehow still maintaining that feeling of being surrounded and the claustrophobic atmosphere of RE4. I haven't played the demo or seen much of this game beyond the first trailers, but the co-op has me far more worried than the control scheme, to be honest.

Wait until you're surrounded by a bunch of infected and then the big guy with the super axe takes a swing at you! Pretty tense stuff.

Anyone have any concrete information on whether the full game will be co-op all the way through or will you have sections where you play as one character on their own? My flatmate was waiting for this game with high expectations. Now they've been lowered by the idea that it'll be co-op throughout the game (he likes when it's you alone versus all the beasts and all that with occasional team-up elements, so.....)

Otherwise, a good demo once you get used to the controls and mighty pretty to boot.

Uchhh just realised this was up for download so got all excited and signed into my Japan account to find out they've blocked it now for anyone outside Japan!

When are we getting the demo?

Western date has not been confirmed but I think the block only stops you from downloading it from the XBL Marketplace.

If you know where to look on the Internet you can download the demo and burn to CD/DVD and run it from there without any issue.
