Thanks to Billy on here, I got the demo a few days ago and it's brilliant. There's heavy screen tearing issues through 1080i with VGA for me, but I don't mind much as it's the demo. Also the controls can feel cumbersome at times, but with the default set up on D (the Gears of War one) I got used to it after 15 mins.
Despite two minor problems, the rest of the demo is brilliant. The first mission out of the two was quite hectic and I managed to die first time, but it gets easier once you know the location and can hop through windows and know your escape exits. The real-time inventory also makes the game flow much more nicer now, I had no problem with the old resi's but not being able to pause adds to the tension.
Also your AI partner can sometimes push you around a bit which can make you feel a bit disconnected from the world, however, she moves out of your way when firing behind her and when walking she will come beside you on the right of the screen, which I thought was a nice little touch to make it look cool, as she's left handed so you can see whatever gun she's got.
It's a HD version of Resi 4. brilliant!
Oh yeah, and I have no problems with having to hold A to run; much prefer walking.Last edited by Malc; 08-12-2008, 17:08.

I don't know if I've bene playing too much GoW but killing someone seemed so unsitisfying! Shooting with that weedy gun pop cap gun, watching them stumble, fall down and bubble away. Na...
I know you can say 'Well, if it ain't broke...' and you can to a certain extent but for such a long gap between games and when your competitors are all flying away, it's not about 'if it ain't broke...' its about 'how can we blow users socks off this time?'
A swing and a miss for me - this game is 2 years too late.

I don't believe that competitors are flying away. Gears 2 has a much more refined control and combat system, however, there is barely anything to seperate GoW from it's sequel either. Apart from the fact that nearly all of Gears 2 is set in a giant anus, so nothing that it did blew peoples socks off. Others will say that GoW aint broke, so they didn't need to change it, and I believe that applies with Resi as well.

OK so played this now and i must say, im dissapointed. The controls, while very similar to 4 are very updated. The actual monsters are not scary and, i dont know, i just wasnt hooked. I will end up buying the full game, that i know, but this demo has left me unimpressed. Dead Space is where its at IMO.

Yeah, it's fun going for limbs and joints to see their reactions. Like when you shoot their knee or calf and they grab it and then look at you all evil-like, and I imagine they're calling me a bloody git or something.
I doubt you'll get banned for it as you're not circumventing anything to play it - the 360 was designed to read demos from discs just fine. If it was an exploit, they would've patched it up a while ago. MS themselves let you download updates (e.g. xbox backward compatibility) and the like to burn to disc and boot on the 360.
We'll see, though, but I'm not worried about that, and usually I'm paranoid about getting banned

I want to love this as I love the visuals and the setting, but the controls are just utter poop! (Well for me anyway).
It seems to be working for others so nice one, but after gears and L4D I just can't control the flipping thing. Half the time I can't see who is attacking me.
Wouldn't care I can't remember having any issues with the previous RE titles? Maybe things have just moved on.

GOW, L4D etc is a completely different game to RE other than you shoot things. The RE series has always controlled like this, and is more of a slower paced action adventure.
I don't understand why people look for massive redesigns or directions in a series that would actually change the very core of that series. Rate it for what it is, not an imagined impossibility in your head. That goes for a lot of games discussions lately.
