I really love this game and it's got me completely hooked. Loads of fun to be had just exploring the alleyways and tiny streets looking for things to collect and admiring all the details.

Just finished this, fantastic game. Was a bit slow at the start but I think that was definitely the right move because you really do build up a relationship with the characters which in turn makes the story so much more enjoyable later on.
Combat was as enjoyable as ever, the main story was suitably epic, and the characters were great; the little fat kid was awesome. The substories were also a lot of fun, and I especially liked the revalations when looking for that "perfect shot".
Only real downside for me was the fact it plays, and feels, exactly like 1 & 2.

Picked Yakuza 3 up last night. This is my first Yakuza game. I've considered trying one of the old games before but I never got round to picking one up. I played the demo a few months back and despite the beat-em up fights I enjoyed the experience.
Watched the two catch up videos last night and I've put a few hours into it this morning.
Fantastic so far. The random street fights are adding to the atmosphere at the moment but I know they'll start to annoy me at some point.
Part of me wants the game to randomly spark in to bat**** anime mode during the cut scenes. Every time there is a tense moment my heads spins off and sees the kids mutate and go bananas on each others.

Wow, what an amazing wonderful atmospheric world Yakuza has. If it wasn't for SMG 2 then this would be (or nearly be (have to leave space for Deadly Premonition...)) my GOTY (for percy release).
Hopefully I will be able to go back to the opening area once I've finished the other areas. I completely rinsed it apart from a handful of keys and the haunted locker mission. It would probably be a spoiler if I found out but I want that pay off.
Looking forward to diving back in.

Completed the story last night.
Stunning game. Engrossing story and very believable characters.
Rikiya's death was fairly depressing. I couldn't find the tattoo parlour and he died before he could have his tat completed or visit the top of Millennium Tower.Glad I can hopefully put things right in adventure mode.
I'm going to play on in Adventure mode (excellent feature!) and clean up any bits that are left.
One of the best experiences of this generation of consoles.

Yep, I had no real idea of what the series entailed before trying the Yakuza 3 demo. It's even making me question my dismissal of MGS (apart from #4)... almost.

Well, the recap at the beginning of the game was fantastic. I'm not sure how well it'll serve people who didn't play the first two games, but for me it was just the right amount of character and detail to remind me who's who and what happened.
Consider me properly pumped to start this tonight. I'm coming for you Majima!

I don't remember caring about this on the other games, but with the jump this generation to I find some of the dated mechanics in this game infuriating. When I find something on the floor, why do I need to press X so many times to confirm that I want it and go through the process of picking it up?
Why on earth are there load screens for a TINY shop that has nothing in it? The game areas haven't grown from the PS2 days, there's no reason for anything within them to require a separate load (Aside from the larger indoor areas like Millennium Tower).
And I hate having to plan my saves so heavily in this game. Hit Kamorucho (!) for the first time properly last night, thinking I'll save when I get there then pick up tomorrow. Noooo, I had to go through a lengthy conversation followed by a tough boss fight (I regret starting this on hard, as far as I can tell everyone just takes a million hits to kill now). Then it opens up the rest of Kamoruch - GREAT I think, now I can save. But nooo, the police are on the lookout so I have to go the long way around and, just as I'm nearing the save point, there's an unavoidable chase scene (Which is ****) that I either have to complete or quit for the night and lose about an hours progress.
As I say I don't think I cared with Yakuza 1/2 but the power of the consoles has allowed those devs who can be arsed to make this kind of design a thing of the past so I'm finding it frustrating.
I'm enjoying the game as a whole. Still feel I'm just settling into it really, but it looks as though the story is going to be as convoluted as ever.
