    That's the chap.

I did get a text message. Maybe it was the call you're referring to. Will try that location tonight. Cheers for the help, buddy.

Just remembered, well I'm 99% certain that you do have to go back to the orphanage, as after the fight with Rikiya he takes you to see Nakahara, so yes go back and speak to all the kids, theres also one in the wash room as well which is easy to miss, after you've done that it should trigger a cut scene.

Finally managed to pick this up for a reasonable price, should be here in a week or so. In the meantime can anybody recommend a decent guide for this in case I get stuck?

Really looking forward to getting into this, think I'll replay the first two in preparation!

ThePatrick on GameFAQs is your man. He's done the entire series, 1, 2, Kenzan and now 3. Excellent stuff.

I'd love to get back to this but Demon's Souls is taking up most of my gaming time, plus I'd like to finish Kenzan first. I did enjoy the few hours I played though. I've just ended up out of work again, so perhaps I'll catch up with a bit more of my backlog while I use up all the holiday I didn't claim...

Brilliant, cheers for that. Hoping to get through it without needing help but this will be the first text heavy import I've played in years. There's a lot of good imports out on the ps3 at the moment eh? Thank god its region free!

Can you still get the DLC for this? I can't find it anywhere on the PSN.
              Kept you waiting, huh?

I think you can get it all from within the game itself. I haven't played in a while but pretty sure there's an option in the menu for it.

Pretty sure they're unlocked with patches. It should appear in the menu after you've updated.

This turned up in today's delivery and, despite not being overly enamoured with the recent demo, decided to show my support of "niche" games and bought it.

Glad I did! The demo is pretty poor compared to the final product.

Okay, so being a year old isn't going to mean it's the most technically amazing title but it still holds it's own. There's plenty going on and the character models have a nice solidity to them.

I never finished the first two games but there's a nice Shenmue 2 style recap for each game should you need to see what's happened before.

The combat is nice and chunky with decent feeling of connection between Kazuya's fists and the enemies faces.

One thing I do like is the (so far) absence of swearing. It seems the localisation team have chosen to avoid trying to make the game more adult by having every other word be an expletive.

The UK version came with a soundtrack CD in a plastic wallet and a code for some arena combat mode and some sort of item hunting mini-game. Both of which require to finish the game first.

                      This is very good!

having never played yakuza 1 or 2 am i right in thinking that the combat is based off virtua fighter?. it certainly looks like it.

Loosely. But it is much more "brawler" with a hint of powerstone. Whatever it is, it is good, visceral fun.

I have a question with the recap having nver finished the first how well do they recap the games before this one ?

                            Thank you

I found those recaps to be lame. Very small screen.

Also, the graphics seem to look considerably worse than they did in Kenzan. More framedrops, less lighting, less NPCs on screen?...

Just got this today, not much to add really that I didn't say a year ago regarding the game but looking forward to giving it another run through in English at last.

The extra CD seems pretty decent for people who have never played the other games, it's nothing in depth but gives a nice brief background to the characters and their relationships to one another, the inclusion of the full 31 song soundtrack on the disc was a nice surprise, wasn't expecting that, remember paying around £25 for the OST during the time of Ryu Ga Gotoku 3's release so it's a good extra to have included.

Yeah that was a big problem with the first game I felt, everything was Yo! Yo! muthaf*cker in that, the translation in this so far seems to be on par with the second game which is a good thing, theres still bits of it but only when really necessary.

In regards to the translation it really does confirm that Sega had strict budget rather than the certain things won't resonate line they gave, early on it's quite apparent from things like the gang names when you fight and the chapter screens, these were redrawn in english for Yakuza 1+2, in this they've kept the original Japanese and just added a subtitle underneath.
