quick Q guys, any idea how much this is retailing for in Tesco?

    Comment

Erm, anything i can do for this?

I went into a new town, think i'm in acre, and as soon as i got there i did all of the view points. Now i've gone to the assassin's bureau and the map hasn't got any of the things i need to find on them, and it doesn't help if i scale back upto them

Quite a big glitch imo if there's nothing i can do about it.

Edit: Nevermind, i went to the edges of the city and scaled the view points there, so i could see over to the part i'm on and it found one.

Indeed. That's precisely why I intend on picking it up and, whilst I fully expect to be disappointed with all the game's shortcomings that people have mentioned, least it's something different.

Its so slick and the presentation is phenomenal. I love the bits of computer and dna code going on. As already been mentioned, the animation is super slick. There hasn't been a 3d game that has come close to it imo, for example just seeing him put weight on his left leg as he makes a turn when hes running.

Ive done the first hit. I dont mind having to eavesdrop, pickpocket and protect the people. I really like the combat so far, i can't wait till i can learn to do counterattacks. Im looking forward to the rest.

I agree with all your points but particularly this one - early days for the game but this is already a little odd and indeed getting tedious. As soon as you jump over a small wall the crowed will start gasping at your "childish" actions.

Apart from the poorly paced first hour I don't really have any other complaints though. The game feels very unique in almost every respect, it's difficult to describe but it feels like a game that has come from a team who have had no contact with the outside world for the past four years, and who have had no influence from areas of improvement that others have made. In some ways this is good (in particular crowed and animation, which is astonishing quite frankly) but not so good in others.

Still, early days. Will post when I get some proper time with it (haven't even done my first kill!).

I have to echo Ezees sentiments on this, I am falling more and more in love with the game every second I play and even THINK about it... the scale of the environments between the cities alone is enough to blow me away. How much each of these environemnts is a world on its own and is so seamlessly integrated with your actions is unbelievable... and where are the loading times? Zero, just fluid gameplay bar the odd initial mission load screen. Roaming around such a detailed environment with no loading interruptions really is great as it pulls you right into the atmosphere. I spent about 3 hours just going from the Assassins HQ to Damscus last night, not because it was a long journey, but because there was so many things on the way that grabbed my attention, like a Templar or a viewpoint or a loney guard in need of death, I cant get enough of this. And all this before I even get to a city?? Immense!!

The cities themselves are breathtaking and simply wandering around, stalking investigation targets and unlucky guards is too much fun. Also, when you get your throwing knives the chase mechanics go up another level... running from guards and taking out oncoming ones with throwing knives before you leap up onto a roof will make me smile every time I do it.

The character mechanics and animation are without question the best I have ever seen, Altair is THE bibilical ninja. With these mechanics and a RIDICULOUSLY huge environemnt in which to play I dont understand how this is getting such a hard time. Long may this fantastic forumla continue... it works for me... the rest is irrelevant.

I got this today and have spent an hour or so with it so far. First of all, the whole premise of the game is frankly dull and utterly disposable. I'd much sooner Ubi had just made it a game set in the crusades and be done with it. Also, the main character's super Americanised voice is beyond terrible.

That out of the way, the visuals in this game are absolutely mind blowing. The art is outstanding, truly the best this gen, surpassing even Gears of War. The engine (which I gather is Ubi custom written) is also superb, but obviously due to the setting of the game less shader intensive than a pure sci-fi game like Bioshock or Gears. I love the look of it though, with incredibly sharp texturing, great lighting, superb particle effects and the best animation system I've ever seen in a game.

As for the game itself, too early to say, but the tutorial bits were incredibly tedious. The game proper looks better, but it's going to struggle for time as I also got Crysis and Mario Galaxy today...

Ah brilliant, more things click into place... when you save citizens they say about helping you if they can, so, if you get caught in a fight against guards later beside them they get involved and help you... I was outnumbered 4 to 1, backed into a corner, then, "aaahhhhhhh" 3 civilians grab the guards and start wrestling with them I dont ask any questions, SWIPE, one guard down, WOOSH 2 down, pivot and THUNK throwing knife into the 3rd as the 4th guard flees, he didnt get far Another example of why this game just keeps making me happy.

I gotta chime in with the love for this game.

                        I am absolutely loving it.

I have friends who have asked my opinion on this game after the 7s it has been getting. They have been put off it (part of the huge joke of review scores of 7 being bad reviews) but I have talked them back into buying it buying gushing like a fool.

I have spent ages getting to the first hit in Damascus, doing every side quest and activity I can find and sometimes just free running with no purpose just to watch him move.

I also think Cavalcade's above post sums up the visuals nicely.

The last 2 posts pretty much cover everything I feel aswell. Not enough is getting made of the 'Kingdom' areas though, to call this world epic doesn't do it justice.

                          More... now!!

Just dipped my toes into this game so to speak, playing the tutorial and opening level. I won't be able to play it much till next year but I must say I like what I see so far. Graphics are amazing even on lowly standard def tv and controls are really nice. Atmosphere is spot on so far, and I'm intrested in where they're going with this whole memory thing.

Why do they keep releasing great games all at the same time ?

About damn time more folk piped in with a bit of love.

I've done my second assassination and it's still great. Fair enough, there's still seven to go but on current form I can't see that being a problem.

I did the same thing. Made sure I had as much info as possible before I tried to take out the first target. Brilliant fun!! Also spent ages finding all the viewpoints to leap of faith off of. Awesome.
