Just completed it. (Minor spolier, nothing specific). I love the way the game ends, and to make things even better, the spoiler someone spouted about the ending was completely wrong.

Which came as a nice surprise.

I know some of you may not like it, but that's how to do a cliffhanger. Bungie need to take some lessons from Valve in that department.

      Superb stuff
Aye. The loading on average was only around ten to fifteen seconds for me between areas. Nothing as horrific as Far Cry or Doom III. Also the fact that like Half-Life, it doesn't take you to a load screen is important.

Your viewpoint is never sacrificed for the sake of delivery.

if you use those tweaks concept posted on page 190. the load times will be dramatically halved. even exiting back to windows is instantaneous now.

The config settings seem to have made it slightly smoother for me, although it's hard to tell in a half hour session. Changing the heapsize just caused it to crash on startup (are there not three zero's missing from those examples?).

Ravenholm is sick with that gun.

Heapsize doesn't do anything, and the advice from Valve throws the sound syncing all over the place.

However, points three and four really did make a difference. The stuttering isn't completely gone, but it isn't anywhere near as noticeable for me as it was before. It doesn't even briefly loop (sound-wise) on loading or saving like it used to.

Concept: The entry to City 17 is just....:O :O :O Words can't explain how cool Dog was on his return.

Does anybody else find themselves staring at Alex's bum?

I'll be on my way then....

I just played Codename Gordon. Bizarre....check it out on the Steam launcher.

Single player is great but I'm sorry. Quake 2 is still much much better than counterstrike.

I still can't belive they didn't bother to make a multiplayer mode using existing maps/weapons in the 5 years they spent on this. Just lazy.

It seems there is some form of unpolished MP in HL2

Anyone tried this game on low-mid range hardware?

I'm not too bothered about everything on max settings, but a reasonable frame rate would be nice.....

I'm running a Sempron 2400+, MSI mobo, 512 DDR333 & Radeon 9600XT, should this be okay to run the game before I put down the cash?

That should play it at a resonable speed.

Oh Jesus it does indeed get better. I was beginning to tire of that frickin boat level, then I got to Eli's lab.

Playing fetch with DOG was super, then Ravenholm. Ravenholm... possibly the best level in any FPS I've played, but that's before I finish the game. The atmosphere shifts from nice sunset and industry to close darkness and mutilated corpses. Love tormenting and torturing zombies, and as for the gravity gun.... woot! FUN!!

                              Fast zombies!!

Tell me there's a lot more to come, please.
