Hardly surprising the game doesn't look all that when you are only using two textures.

I expect the hacker(s) behind this is the proudest person (people) around at the moment, it isn't every day an outsider gets to destroy the release date for such an important and hyped product.

I can see this dragging on for a very long time, and I expect it to get worse before things it gets better.

Do you think Valve are going to come out and openly admit that a crucial spell during HL2's development has been screwed over by an individual/group?

I find it hard to believe that there wouldn't be any impact on the length of development when it comes to re-writing several different parts of the source code. That requires people, money and time.

Having said that, I would like to believe Valve when they say the delay has nothing to do with the recent hack, but the logic of the situation says otherwise. :/

No I'm basing it on how the movement feels when you walk, run and jump and you can't tell me that those screens don't look similiar to a custom map on the first Half-Life cause they look almost identicle. The only differences I've noticed is that the physics are in and the geometry of some maps (using new HL2 features) are more advanced. I'm not gonna look at a black orb floating around the level and immediately think OMFG It's Teh sAme as Hlaf Life1!

No I'm basing it on how the movement feels when you walk, run and jump and you can't tell me that those screens don't look similiar to a custom map on the first Half-Life cause they look almost identicle.

Valve have said that the movement speed of HL will be kept so thats actualy good to hear, it means there not slowing things down at all because the engine cant take the pace. The textures will have been created by the bloke who produced playable code thats why it looks crap, and the physics is all based on 3rd party stuff anyhow isnt it?, the same physics we'll see soon in Max pain 2. We're not seeing anything groundbreaking here because its simply not HL2, HL2 is the whole product and mostly i'd hope will be enjoyed because of its great atmosphere, storyline, combat and gameplay.
I hope to hell it isnt just about fancy graphics because it'll be as much fun as Unreal 2.

On another note I can't beleive this happend at Valve, I certainly won't be giving them my credit card details for steam, if this happened at your bank would you blame the hacker or the bank?

What bull**** all that is... they must have leaked it intentionally so they have an excuse for the delay. There's no logical reason for a game that was to be released last week to be put back 6 months.

Now, hands up all you guys who were sensible and took my sage advice regarding buying a PC specifically to play HL2. Done? Good.

Now laugh out loud at all those folk who paid a fortune, bearing in mind a 9800pro will cost 50p by the time HL2 is out
