Precisely. I knew nothing about the original HL, I was busy with Uni work at the time. I just happened to see it had eventually been released. knew it was supposed to be alright and so grabbed it.

Cue 4 physics nerds gawping at the PC for the next few hours.

If anyone feels they have to spill the beans, can you do it in Spoiler tags please.

Well I won't be posting any spoilers about it thats for sure, and I'd rather people kept any bits of info to themselves full stop.

(my previous post with a mention of a spolier didn't actually spoil anything and just hinted at something very very minor )

I've already had enough spoilers. The furthest I'll be venturing anymore is the front page of HL2.net to see what official news there is

As with the rest of you I played Half Life cold and was simply blown away cos I just didn't know what was going to happen next

It just seems that all hell is breaking loose at the moment.

Seems that a limited number of people have got the leak at this moment in time ( probably because of its size ) and no one seems sure if its the whole thing, a third of it, just the E3 demo levels or whatever

Then there's the whole release thing. Various news sites ( including Yahoo et al ) and saying its been delayed till April 31st 2004, then changing their mind and saying it's still on for `the holidays`

Its a farce, but someone had a quote from Valve saying that a statement was `close` ??!! What the hell does that mean ?

It does seem that Half Life 2 will go down in history, but just not neccesarily for all the right reasons

"Home of Half-Life Radio, HalfLifeSource.com have also recieved a response, not from Valve, but from Vivendi Universal's Mike Thompson who responded with "delay is not confirmed...". This once again highlights the potential communication issues that have plagued Viviendi in times passed. I'd suggest we all wait until Valve have made a public, concrete statement on the topic"

Please let there be no delay

Well, I must be the lucky one here! I've never played Half Life, and know nothing about it so I purchased the PS2 version for just ?7.99 a few days back and am loving it!!!

                  Hee, hee... no your not.

I played HL1 YEARS ago on my PC, and picked it up again and am loving it... It is suprisingly easy the secodn time around... even if it has been that long... I wish I could increase the difficulty half way through the game!

The nameless hacker has released what could be called a statement, and he says...

"To all those saying HL2 was delayed because of the hacking |

                    | Also I'd like to point out the E3 was one big fake by Valve. |

Ah, but were you utilising the Quicksave button extensivly?

"Argh, killed! Good job I saved three seconds before this!"

I used it sinfully when I first played through Half-Life, Opposing Force, and Blue Shift, although I like to think I'd remove the F6 key from the keyboard if I tried those games again.

No one seems to know how complete the leaked beta is - apparently there's loads of textures and some models etc missing

Apparently there's now been a threat that the hacker is going to release the 100% pre-gold version including the source code because Valve keeps `lying` ( in the hackers words ) about how much was stolen

                            Supposed quote :-

"I suggested to Valve to stop lying to their customers about how much was stolen. However, they disregarded my statement and called me a liar. Now they will see how much I have been lying when I release the Pre-Gold and all 100% of the sourcecode. Actions speak louder then words."

Now this could be bull, but then a lot of people thought that about the beta version

Things just seem to be getting worse, and Valve are refusing to comment thus far on how long the game will actually be delayed for

How predictable, setting himself up as the understated hero fighting a large and evil corporation which is 'lying' to the public. Talk about dellusions of grandeur.
