I've seen the leaked Beta now too. I would say to anyone contemplating downloading it, think very hard, you don't want to spoil your anticipation. It is difficult to see from this, if indeed it is fairly recent, that it was going to hit the Sept 30th deadline. There's clearly still quite a lot of work to do.

I was thinking the same. Quite why anyone would even speculate a September release is utterly mystifying.

Someone else on another forum made a very good point about Vampire Masquarade : Bloodlines. That game uses the Half Life 2 engine and was fully up and running and playable in this year's E3

They wouldn't have been able to do that if the engine wasn't finished

And isn't there conflicting stories here a little ?

On one half, the hacker(s) are shouting "Valve are telling lies. The game was never ever going to make the 30th, this is all they have"

then they're saying :-

"Stop the lies Valve otherwise we'll release the 100% pre-gold version and the source code together"

So which is it ? The game is either pre-gold or nowhere near complete. It can't be both

That's the worst thing about the internet. Disinformation is so easy to spread, and right now there's far to many people who are willing to believe anything about release dates, betas and everything else

Valve could put an end to all this by just giving out some definate information. And Vivendi could put an end to it by just shuting up and only repeating word for word anything Valve says

By all acounts, "geforce4" or higher level of performance, to get anything acceptable out of it.

Are the geforce GO and mobile radeon chipsets even on par with a gf4 yet? If not, don't bother.
