What are you on about. I think it is clear from his/her statement that the hacker was trying to save us from an evil corporation who were going to release a game that doesn't live up to thier promises...

I've seen some of the shots from the leaked E3 material, and it all looks fricken wonderful. There's this picture of a bridge and it just looks amazing, so **** YOU whoever is at fault for the delays, for making me wait Argh Arpil is half a year away damnit.

      Also, there's more leakage happening:

      Planet Half-Life:
"Well, it appears that this "Anonymous Leaker" character wasn't bluffing, because now he's apparently released something that lets you play Half-Life and Counter-Strike using Half-Life 2's source engine. And he's also supposedly released an outdated build of Counter-Strike: Condition Zero (it's going gold Friday, see yesterday's story) and/or possibly something that deals with Counter-Strike 2. We really don't care to know the details, and we can't exactly confirm this because we refuse to download these releases ourselves. And we of course strongly suggest you don't download any of this stolen material either"

      CSNation:
"I'm guessing that VALVe had something up its sleeve concerning a port of CS to the new Source (HL2) engine, unless someone coded themselves a port (which seems unlikely). Cool, a free surprise from VALVe ruined by some dork. And man, you have to admit that VALVe really deserves to have their free updates to the community spoiled!

Of course, we here at CS-Nation would agree with the sentiment that downloading anything like this is pretty pointless. Hey, you know, I'm a pretty big fan of CS/HL and even I can wait until the stuff is final. Heck, games are about fun. It's pretty hard to enjoy a game when it has silly debug messages running across the screen. "DEBUG 2293ms WORSHIP NEWELL!! -LOMBO & BASKETHEAD" really kills the mood of a game. I don't think there is much point in downloading the leaks of the games because they're just not playable. They can't be fun."

Yes, we should be greatful to this person from freeing us !

Next they should target the RSPCA - they're keeping lots of dogs imprisoned in centers all across this country - some of them even against the wishes of the owners who want them back

Hack their communication networks for being such evil bastards !

They look like they have all been taken using a ****ty graphics card.
Those screens just look like a mod for HL1.... same environs, textures, character models, weapons....

          Very suss...
Those are just real, real crap screenshots, see here, here, here, and here for some decent HL2 screenshots.

I've Seen the leaked pre release. ... And if this is recent code then valve will need the 6 months to sort it all out....

Most of what i've seen contain's the E3 stuff and the early physic's models.

It will need a decent pc to get the most out of it, but hopefully it will be good. Shame its still gonna be full of scripted action though....I though valve said they wern't gonna do that...

We'll see - it's impossible to tell anything from what has been leaked.

I still have hope for HL2 (and more importantly TFC2 and CS2 woohoo \o/)

I am tired of the publicity farce this game is becoming. With each successive "development" (one step forward, three back, six sideways), I lose more and more faith in it.

Snap. It does seem rather messy, and impressions of the pre-release (even if it is only a few maps and elements) haven't been overly impressive to say the least.

My anticipation for Half Life 2 has already been slightly dampened.

One thing's sure. By the time it's released, this will have become quite a large countdown thread.

Heh, heh, heh. I was thinking that Concept. It'll be 50 pages by the time the game is released, then we can expect another 150 telling people what to do and solving hardware/software incompatibility problems... Who knows, by page 200 we may actually be able to talk about the game

I'm refusing to let my anticipation become dampened. I don't care what has been released, I really find it hard to believe what was released is anything that close to release as, if it has as many bigs as people complain, I really doubt they would release it, and would therefore have informaed us of a change in release date anyway.

Well, I've not played any of the released game, and have avoided all spoilers and pictures etc... so I've still got the same hope and ideas as before...

We should all agree that: anyone who posts spoilers before release should be banned, punched and maimed and then forced to eat his own hair... what do you people think?

I'll just say that Mods are keeping an eye out on this thread...

Anyway give it a couple more days and someone will leak even more.

Guys, I'm going to say something thats going to piss you all off, but frankly the people to blame for this go by the name of

                                Valve

They are yet another company doing things on the net the without proper security and procedures in place to prevent this type of incident from happening, after reading how they were hacked its the most startling evidence is how easy it was for this to happen, I won't buy anything from those guys.

Too many people take network security far too lightly and they get burned badly over and over again - spend the money folks and get some decent security and processes in place to manage important content like this. [also its clear that even without this HL2 wouldn't have made a pre Xmas release anyway].

                                Neil.
