    Or maybe thats just me

I'm looking forward to that too.

And the Rome: Total War footage from E3 blew me away. Very very eager for that. I love the previous Total War games and it being set in the Rome era (my fave historical thingie) is like a dream come true.

Doom 3 is getting a `summer` release too.

I could be a pessimist and say that means Xmas also

I have to be honest after E3 I've put Half Life to the back of my mind again quite quickly.

Lets face it, there's a ton of new games coming out this summer to keep us all busy

Could 2004 actually be the year where there's no summer drought of games ?

Just to add more fuel to the release date fire. This months Edge with all its E3 stuff has a small piece on HL2 and also comments that a Summer release could mean anytime but then goes on to advise booking a sickie off work for Sept 9th.

          God knows...

Latest PC Gamer says they'll have a review of Doom III next month. Maybe the guys at ID have been working overtime to get the game out in July or early August to try and get ahead of HL2?

****, I missed that, only just read that bit and all. I've been getting really excited about this game again recently, just starting to save up for a new PC

I was thinking about it at work today, how big the buzz is going to be when it does get released.

Well, apparently there have been arrests over the HL2 Source Code Leak.

from bluesnews.com June, 10 2004 – Arrests have been made in several countries related to the break-in to Valve’s network, theft of the Half-Life 2 source code, and release of the source code on the Internet. “Within a few days of the announcement of the break-in, the online gaming community had ...

Looks like there might now be a spat between Valve and Vivendi as to when the game is released

                    Taken from halflife2.net :-

Recently there has been a rumour floating around the internet suggesting that Valve will be submitting the final version of Half-Life 2 to Vivendi in the coming weeks for publication, and that Vivendi hope to have Half-Life 2 on the store shelves this fall.

This has been published on a number of mainstream news sites but is just pure speculation. Just to reiterate we?ve gone straight to the source and spoken to Vivendi and Valve Software about this again for the real information.

                    Vivendi wish to state that:

                    Quote:
?We will not be giving a ship date for Half-Life 2 until we get a gold master from Valve. When that happens we'll be able to tell the world when we're going to ship the game. Until then, we are not going to give a date or comment on rumours or speculation.?

Valve also remains adamant that Half-Life 2 will be released this summer.

So that Sept 30th date may have just been out by a year or maybe Edge's Sept 9th as well, though if they deliver in August I can't see it making the start of Sept. Need a good few weeks just to print 'em up and what about the marketing? Sigh...

Vivendi can market the game before they get it... if they trust Sierra.

Your forgetting though, Steam, they can deploy the game at any time they feel neccessary, without the publishers consent.

September is looking like a good bet then, with Doom III hopefully due out in August.
