Half Life 2
Took an age to unlock through Steam, but it's finally here.
First impressions - It's very atmospheric. Really feels like you are in a totalitarian state, and that you are a very wanted man. Every turn there is a patrol ready to spot you and open fire. I seem to have been on the run for a long time now, and have seen an awful lot of sewers.
Graphically it's artistically very pretty. Nice textures and lighting, everything balanced and feels in it's place. Technically it's good but nothing too amazing. A few shiny surfaces here and there, some lovely water effects, and of course that famous facial animation. But aside from that, it's certainly not at Doom 3 or Far Cry level of technical mastery. The art and animation more than makes up for it though.
Sound is top notch. The odd bit of incidental music but mainly just sound effects. Sirens, gunfire, ambient stuff. And great voice acting.
I see Half Life 1:Source is also unlocked today. Will have to take a look later. But until then, back to HL2!Comment

Hello folks,
I'm off to buy this at lunchtime for my new PC.
Thing is, my graphics card is the budget end Radeon 9250 (256MB) at the moment.
My processor is a 3.0G P4 and I currently have 512MB RAM (soon to be doubled).
Any thoughts as to how she'll run?

Your specs are similar to mine. Except I have a 128MB radeon 9800 pro as well as a P4 3Ghz and 512MB RAM. The game ran smoothly at 1024x768 with all settings on high. I'm talking high detail, 16xAF etc..Originally posted by Ratso

Its breathtaking O_o just finished the 'water hazard' level, most enjoyable FPS level ive ever played.
