I bet nobody chooses Carl though

I'm actually playing him most as I find him to be the least "generic" anime of the cast. don't want to bring anything down, that's just how I feel. He's a lot of fun to play when you find your stronger attacks and teleport the robot around after you. Ganging up on the opponent makes you feel really powerful too!

****ing hell, damn Y-A losing my copy
Anyway just to get it straight what is there to unlock? I'm not interested in art galleries and suchforth as I'll only be playing VS. when I do finally get it. From what I can gather I'll have to unlock supers yers? Anything else?
        Kept you waiting, huh?

Four unlimited characters (Ragna, Nu, Rachel, Hakumen) and all Astral Finishes for everyone except Ragna, Nu and Rachel; everything is unlocked by playing the arcade mode. Aside from trophies/achievements the rest is art and movies.

Are those moves available from the off online or will I have to endure 1-up play to get it? I fear the worst given your explanation. Curses! It'd be pretty unbalanced online if I was to be without said extra moves against online players yers?

Astral finishes are more like fatalities, you won't need to unlock them if you don't plan to use them.

Alright, that's good I suppose. I just bought this used so I should have it for the weekend now providing customs fall for the $30 value styles.

One more (slightly odd) question for JPN PS3 version owners... Was there a sticker of any sort on the cellophane seal? I don't mean a price tag either lol.

No stickers on the box. I agree with NGKrush about the generic anime stuff, the one thing I don't like about this game is it really panders to the obsessive anime nerd. They even put doujin pictures on the official website, yeeuurgh. Makes me cringe. (The gamefaqs board for this game is unspeakably awful)

I agree Carl is fun but he has the HP of a wet paper bag - he's the only character that made me set the difficulty down prior to beating arcade mode with him... I just didn't even want to TRY and beat Nu normally.

In case you haven't noticed, a lot of japanese games do tend to pander to the obsessive anime nerd ;P

It's something I would usually associate with low quality games though, like Ikkitousen and stuff that has no particular reason for existing other than fan service.

This one is actually a solid game, so it's a shame that it has to be such a cliche.

Well, I guess the thing is that video games and anime tend to go hand in hand in Japan. So both good and bad games will have that influence. I don't think BlazBlue is any more or less influenced by it than any of the Guilty Gears, and it was particularly blatant in Battle Fantasia, which is also by ArcSys.

Just saying, just because it has a strong influence from anime, doesn't necessarily make it a bad thing. It's just an aesthetic, after all =)

Don't get me wrong, it's not the anime aesthetic I'm against.. I appreciate intelligent anime as much as the next guy.

What I don't like is that stuff like this is actually being pushed by the publisher directly. The comments on some of the ingame artwork, and the typical discussions being had over at gamefaqs (people actually sound like they are IN LOVE with the voice actresses) it all makes me feel like I'm part of a world I don't want to be part of. Like I'm one step away from doing cosplay in my spare time.

The culture is overriding the aesthetic in this particular case I think.

Of course this stuff can easily be ignored to focus on the awesome fighting game, it was just a comment.

Not the first time and it surely won't be the last, they just want to have an additional source of income - people (and not only Japanese) will pay to have "erotic" illustrations done by the official artists rather than a badly drawn doujinshi.
ASW are not the first doing so and they won't be the last, especially when the company aims for a relatively small audience composed mostly by males.

Reading comments of GameFAQs and Youtube boards is something you should never do.
