I got the game this morning, Not read anything yet.

It is very very different game I am expecting. The art is beautiful, but I find the background and characters blend in together a little too much compared to Street Fighter IV.

I find the choice of artworks confusing. But I have to get used to the game.

But half hour playtime is not good to judge a game.

As if to get punished for my Carl comments earlier, I just fought one who absolutely handed my arse to me.

I've actually had a huge variation in fights tonight, despite facing several Nu's, and the rest all being Jins, Noels and Ragnas.. every single match was different. I easily got the better of one level 33 Nu and then got destroyed by another who was the same level as me (22). The Jin's took it to the wire but I'm happy to say I got the decision, so satisfying to get one over that guy when he keeps you frozen for half the match!

Ragna is Kyon. Hakumen is Simon from Gurren Lagann.

I realise it's not that important in the end, as you still seem to be enjoying the game, but I do think your problem may be because you take too much notice of youtube vid/gamefaq forum comments/posts XD

The Trophies are really a laugh, I had a blast hunting them. I did Rachel, Carl and a few others... Carl's was extremely dull. I enjoyed doing Hakumen's trophy the most, its basically a 100% killercombo on Ragna.

But, one thing I wonder. How the hell do you pull of Tager's Astral? Whatever I tried... it doesn't work. I play with TE stick and yes, I did unlock his Astral.

The command list does a bad job of explaining Tager's astral.. to get it to work you should hold down A+B+C, then rapidly press D.

THe list makes it sound like you should rapidly press D then hold down A+B+C - that won't work.

I haven't looked up the hidden trophies yet as so far they've been unlocking fairly regularly without any special effort, but I can tell some of the character specific ones are going to need dedicated effort to get. I have only gotten Ragna's, Litchi's and Taokaka's despite having done story + arcade mode with the entire roster (bar Hakumen & Nu) so I guess the unlock conditions for most are not likely to happen in regular play.

WTF?! hold down A+B+C and then press D? Do you need to be Squidley Diddley to play this game?
              Kept you waiting, huh?

It's only an astral finish, but yeah his was the only one where I had to let go of the stick completely (need to build up strength in my pinky finger lol). Unfortunately it is not even a guaranteed hit, so the risk of pulling it off really isn't worth it (unless your opponent is SERIOUSLY crap). Most of Tager's regular throws will probably do the same 20% damage that the astral requires!

None of the regular moves are that demanding in terms of controls.

ohh one thing that i find cool (and i think is in kof xii) is you can combo into throws

nah, some trophies won't be unlocked during regular play. Some are so passive, that they can only be done in vs mode with both sides not fighting.

Given that's the case you really have to question why they made them secret trophies. It doesn't make a lot of sense.

I've been experimenting with uploading videos of the replays to youtube, my camera kind of sucks so I don't think I'll bother doing so unless a match is really worth showing, but might as well post what I did already.

The first couple are from the only NTSC-UK matches I've had so far -

                      KusoGaki humiliating me with Jin

                      My revenge with Taokaka

Lastly a random ranked match I played against a Japanese Tager, this is funny cos we're so evenly matched (check the timing of the spark bolts in the 2nd round!)

                      Sorry about the quality

Finally cracked this on last night & played arcade mode using Rachel...she awesome & I found myself just laughing half the time soooo many random attacks it's great.

Got to about match 6 before getting my arse handed to me so gave up there.

I unfortunately dont think I'll be playing it again for a while...the PS3 pad sucks so much bum it should be a porn star

I have the sorest thumb ever today & trying to pull off specials was more luck then anything last night, it just didnt register correct inputs the number of times I moved into attacks rather than pulling anything off was annoying to say the least.

I honestly think that as great as Blaz is until I can afford an arcade stick of some description this will be residing on the shelf because I just cant put up with the D-pad

Still at least I have the BD to watch & Soundtrack to listen too (Which is great by the way ) in the meantime

What do you think of art style of the game ? Do it work and blend together well.

                            I love the art style.
I think it works brillantly but then I'm a fan of all of Arcs games & this just carrie son the tradition of Gorgeous sprites, great animation & stunning backdrops.

I like the lead into the stages with the very arty overview & then the stage itself are simply stunning.

I think it can get a bit confusing at times when the fight is raging at full tilt as the colours do blend together a bit but all in all I feel the style works really well & looks amazing.

The art direction is fantastic. It's the prettiest game I've played in years.

I haven't found that at all. Most BGs are quite dark and the characters are pin sharp and colourful. The game looks so much better moving than screenshots imply.

If you want to see a game where the colourful backgrounds clash with the sprites see KOF XII.

Thats probably more down to me & my setup then anything else then...I may have the contrast turned down a tad & I'm still playing on an old CRT (albeit at 1080i over component) so potentially it's my setup & not the game at fault.

Also when I got that issue (I use the term VERY losely as it's not a problem really is it?) I was playing as Rachel against Taokaka on Taokaka's stage so could have had some bearing as well being quite dark & she is the darkest character in the lineup.
