I don't think there's a LE version in the US.

Thanks for the reply. Maybe i'll order Animal Crossing as well with Monster Hunter as I know that comes with the Wii Speak Device also. Really enjoyed the DS version of AC so more of the same would do me fine.

Right I'm all set on this now, really enjoying it so far.

Can someone add me to that spreadsheet?

This game epitomises the meaning digital crack.
Having had this game since Monday, I've already sunk about 41 hours into it. This is the only game that has made me boot up the wii, which I last played in June '08

Is there anymore USA region users?
Had a few good quests with kryss the other day. Marvellous fun! it just brought back those Dreamcast Phantasy Star Online sessions I used to have with the old Wireplay lot.

At the moment doing an offline quest Vs a Barroth is giving me a headache. I need some random hunters to take the aggro off me so I could score some cheap hits ;p
I also need some Barroth parts to get the Assault Axe (switch axe type)
even questing with randoms is quite fun. Haven't had any bad experiences yet. Comical yes.

Quite frankly, this game has practically reduced my Xbox 360 time to nearly enough zero. I've got Super Street Fighter IV sitting on the shelf, because I can't stop thinking about/ playing Tri.

        Hunter ID: LXE64K (USA)

hopefully I'll be on sometime this weekend.

I'm going to be on later if you want a few quests. Bowgunners have it so easy, I beat Barroth in 24 mins the first time. I'm in the Hunter's Armour btw, it has the same locating ability as the Bangis (J-name) armour so you can see all big monsters in the field.

Make the R.Ludroth bowgun and Barroth is no problem. Obviously get some practice in using it first though.

Whats the best type of Bowgun? I made a Heavy and i'm finding it difficult to use.

They all have good/bad points. If you're not good then I recommend making a barrel with a shield. The shield acts like the great sword or lance being used for defence except that it doesn't need sharpening afterwards. It works automatically, just as long as you're not firing/reloading at the time.

I'll be on sporadically over the weekend. Though Sunday evening is probably my best bet for some decent hours on it.

I think i've got some materials for that Bowgun. I've not looked into that field yet, as i've been mainly saving for the Ludroth armour. Guess i should get some Hunter gunner armour purchased in the meanwhile.

What's your opinion of the Assault Axe?
It has a nice Paralyse for the sword, though the -20% affinity doesn't look great. but something i could deal with.
is it worth trading up the regular Switch Axe for?

Got some time to get on this again today. My next quest involves slaying Qurupeco (Lv3 quest: Playing with Fire), any tips?

I have a question about Bowgun damage. Say my Bowgun's attack stat is 100. If I am using Normal shot (which fire 3 bullets per round) do I do 100 damage per bullet or round?

If the Japanese players are to be believed, it does 100/1.2 ~ 83 damage per round.

Divide the attack power by the following number:
                    Sword+shield 1.4
                    Great sword 4.8
                    Long sword 3.3
                    Swtich axe 5.4
                    Lance 2.3
                    Hammer 5.2
                    Bowgun 1.2
To get the actual damage done.

Jim: always upgrade. That switch axe is the easiest one to make I think, though the edge is the worst. It's the only switch axe that can paralyse.

Can't get online now until Monday night (at another house with no decent internet boooo!) but really loving this.

I seem to be sticking with the beasty Great Swords at the moment and having a lot of fun. Not even tried a bowgun so not too sure if they will be my bag or not. BTW has that awesome MH Wiki site been taken down? I need to read up about what 'affinity' etc actually means. I dont think I'm looking as closely as I should at my attributes at the moment.

After 25 hours I have had the most sucsess on this with good old regular swords and shields.

The game seems to want to put me off them though, it says things like "a Barroth armour cant be damaged with weaker weapons", but the speed and acuracy which they strike makes them alot more fun to use than any of the other weapons for me, and you can hack a Barroths legs to bits easily with them, so the information the game gave me was a bit misleading at first... My only annoyance is people seem to think differently to this and when im playing online I seem to get stuck with people using great swords or Switch Axes and they have no idea how to use them so end up fainting 3 times in the space of about 5 minutes.

Also a group of 4 will just swing their big fat swords wildly all over the place, half the time missing their actual target and instead sending me flying into the air... which isnt much fun either if im honest.

Aren't big cutting weapons required to get certain special items?

Man, normally with this kind of game i'd be all up in that faq reading about this combinations etc but somethings about MH3 is making me want to discover them on my own. Madness, madness it tell ya!

No idea... so far i have been able to get every item I want with the use of the sword and shield though.
