Doing damage. All monsters can be poisoned. It's just another way of taking their health down.

168 hours and counting...
Jesus, i can't stop playing this.
All day yesterday i was determind to get the Agnaktor armour from scratch, as i've read that if you're going to be maining a lance, this is what you want. So i spent pretty much all of Sunday trying to do just that.
[14 Agnaktor (offline) runs later...]
And i'm x 1 freaking claw away from completing the set.
First thing i do when i fire it up this morning is to do one more run. Thankfully i get x 2 claws and i'm chuffed.
Mission accomplished.
On a side note, whilst perusing some Monster Hunter Tri vids on YouTube, there's this rather excellent lance user strutting his stuff. Some of the side dodges to whiff the Barroths Tail swipes, and counter lancing is just spot on.

I pretty much spent the whole weekend doing everything BUT play MH3 so will be spending some serious time on it this week. Have you finished all the offline missions yet? The Capture Guru skill is one to get for the last lot so you can just fight the monsters to the point of weakness and cap them. Otherwise you'll run out of time and fail.
HR42 right now and will be looking to get to 50 by next weekend. Annoyingly it always depends on the other hunts you're with, and even some of the higher ones "need more practice". I like to quest with you jim, but you're not on in the evenings my time

Yeah, i've done all the storyline (offline) quests, apart from the Urgent ones that are assigned after beating Ceadus.
Essentially what you're saying for pretty much all quests on 4* and higher, is that there's no point in killing them now? because of time contraints. So pretty much cap as quick as possible?
We had one more go at the Rathian after you left... jeeez, it ripped us a new one.
It just did manuevers i didn't quite telegraph as easily in the hunt before. And i got caught wrongside of her liftoff twice, which meant massive damage and instapoison, and then stunned K.O
It wasn't pretty.
I just need to mop up my key quests for 4* before i can join you on the positive side of HR40

Online the time limit is no problem, unless the hunters are massively underpowered. For the final Urgents offline, without having the higher HR weaponry from online, the only way to win is either to be AMAZING or to capture them.
When I got back online Robin was busy with a group so I just joined a higher Gigginox recruiting city and killed that a few times. Need parts for my poison stinger!
Barioth is on the menu for tomorrow.

Those videos are impressive, i'm guessing there is a Guard speed recovery skill because he seems to recover from guarding ridiculously fast.
I'm getting to the point now where i've put 50 hours in and i'm only just starting to mess with skill points and skills @_@ heh loving it. Actually considering buying a Wii again if I have to give this one back any time so....oh **** my saves will be stuck on his console! Noooooo, **** you Nintendo!

Guard +2 (less stamina loss when blocking)
Guard Boost (unblockable attacks become blockable)
Also, i'm not quite sure if it stacks (i'm certain it does) but if you do the Guard Advance/ Guard Counter technique through a Monster attack/ charge you use less stamina guage, and coupled with Guard +2 you lose even less?
For those who are struggling with "what weapon works best against which monster" may want to divert their attention to this site: http://mh3.reign-of-the-rathalos.com/calc/
As long as you input your correct parameters (as where you are in the offline/ online) as that assumes which materials are available to you by then. Used in unison with the MH3 Tri wiki, you should have no problems creating the ideal gear for that situation.
I really need to get a move on with the key quests on 4* but no chuffing person seems to want to join. Gah!Last edited by jimtendo; 18-05-2010, 13:58.

Ah! I would be glad to join you guys but I was just able to crawl to HR6 yesterday...I joined a quest to capture a Royal Ludoroth but the quest owner fainted three times in 20 minutes and it was a complete failure...ah well.
What really puts me off in online mode is that quest levels are unlocked based on your HR and not if you have or haven't completed all quests in a certain level. Grinding levels is the most boring part of the game, I can understand why you should do for weapon/armor parts, but forcing players to undertake the same quests until they pass is just boring, especially when offline and online share the same equipment...I'm hunting Great Jaggis with a Rough Edge and more than half of Lagiacrus armor!
