Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 (PES 2010) [360/PS3/PC]

Played a couple games online against randoms with no problems. One 'quick match' and one where i created a room which a random joined.
Prettl lag free, the odd stutter but great overall Got DC'd on the first game though as i was drawing and got given a 3-0 defeat, but my housemate did decide to just fire up a bunch of torrents on the desktop so i blame that!
Second game was smooth as silk, drew 1-1 despite battering them, but won on pens

Is there anyone who used to favour the d-pad in previous versions who have started playing with the analogue stick in this version because of the 360 degree dribbling? Or is it still preferable to use the d-pad?

I'm really tempted to Asda Price it tomorrow and want to know which version to get; if it's still best to play with the d-pad I'll snaffle up the PS3 version.

Yeah i've gone from using the Dpad in every previous Pro Evo to using the analogue stick on this one. I'm not at all convinced the game employs 360 movement as claimed (Maybe 16 or 32 as opposed to the previous 8-way?), but the control definitely seems smoother and less clunky than if using the Dpad on this iteration
I've always sworn by the Dpad previously, but for the first time i have to say the analogue stick is now the way to go.
Regards which version, i'd go PS3 personally.. the pad is nicely suited and then there's the added benefit of the upcoming option files from WENB etc.

You can still use the dpad on PS3 only and get "360" movement. The PS3 dpad is analog. This was confirmed by Konami themselves. The Xbox360 dpad won't support it.

Well just played two online games and it seems to be working fine. There are few stutters here and there but nothing too major. Also helps that I won both games I played, seems like I still have some of the old PES magic inside me.

Supposedly, earlier in the week, various places were reporting deals of ?26.71 (Asda), or ?32.71 at Tesco.

Now it seems Asda may be up to 30 quid.

There seems to be no sure price, but it'll be a decent % off the RRP it seems.

Whoa, I did not know this. How does it feel? (presuming you're playing the PS3 version).

If I'm honest, this 360 movement is so subtle you hardly notice it. I have witnessed it when I'm playing it in a more relaxed situation i.e Training Mode. You won't see it if you're abusing the run button, but move at a jogging pace or with R2 (close dribble) and you'll notice it. Personally, I don't see what the fuss is about.

My other main reason for sticking with the dpad is for tricks. Doing a drag back (double tap opposite direction you're facing) or any double tap trick just feels weird to me with the stick. Rather than a simple double tap, you're doing a double flick lol.

I'm still having problems getting into the odd match online at the moment, but did manage to get into a 1v1 and then 2v2 just now. I reckon it's probably down to day-one blues or something.

The 2v2 match was pretty good with the odd quick stutter considering I was playing with Italians and Germans.

360 dribbling is a must IMO. Fifa feels so smooth with it. I hope Konami incorperate it fully in the next installment. Its not just the directions its the speed control from jogging thats so good.

Anyway I keep looking at videos and it does look like its captured the old PES magic. I really love Fifa but miss playing as Japan. Master League was always great also and that looks better than ever but i love my Pro in Fifa!!

Don't tell anyone this, but I like Forza and Gran Turismo. I even play King of Fighters on the sly when I'm not Street Fighting.

Im just skint though and owning 2 football games is usually pointless especially as PES used to be so much better!

Bah. Just had my first laggy game. This guy was apparently in Saudi Arabia and as soon as the match started his connection colour turned red. He won 1-0 but it was pretty much unplayable for me, 2-3 seconds of button lag and stuttering. Boo.

It's good, maybe even great...but not amazing. It is much better than the previous two or three games. Konami got some things right this time, but there's loads of room for improvment. We need smoother animations, get rid of some of the scrappy looking clumsiness that still goes on and get us some friggin licenses and we'll be buzzing.

It's a joy to play right now. The build-up play and like Glazza said, carving out a chance on goal. Rewarding stuff.
