Toally agree about the repsonsiveness. You just can't turn as well as you can with say Pique than if you are controlling Messi. Same for trying to thread through balls if your player is facing an awkward direction or attempting with weaker foot. Player attributes are really being displayed here. Also, run button or pressure button abuse are really punished here. I've had better results at close control with players like Messi or Xavi when dribbling by putting my foot on the ball (tap R1) and changing direction.

The game definately takes some getting used to. Something that's going to put a lot of people off. I'm loving it the more I play at the moment.

Indeed. It's how players feel different Is what I like about PES over FIFA (without wanting to start a war, I love both games!) I play alot of Liverpool v Spurs with a friend every week and we know each others players inside out. I know I have more chance trying to out pace and out muscle Woodgate than I do King with Torres. I know who'll I'll beat in the air and who I won't. I know who'll I'll beat in a sprint with one player but not another. I know Babel's left foot shots are a waste of time but at the same time know that Robbie Keane up the other end isn't much better on his weaker foot and try and force him onto it whenever I can.

Not that alot of doesn't ring true in FIFA too, it just seems to matter more in PES which player you are at any given time.

On a side note, Benayoun's dribbling in the WE2010 demo is spot on

There's also videos of poor keepering in FIFA10 also. Lobbing the keeper is pretty simple in 10.

That's true enough. About 50% of my goals have been scored like that, and I'm an untrained chump.

Agreed chipping the keeper is too easy. Don't forget that the keepers have only been assigned with 1 out of 99 for positioning on the fifa demo though. So presumably they'll be better in the full game (at lob prevention). I hope.

Also that pes video isnt poor goalkeeping its 'bugged' goalkeeping.

Well we all hope things like this are ironed out for release. A couple in here and also on a guy with final code have said keepers are much better on WE2010 demo and in PES2010 final code (see above somewhere).

Thanks for showing us the bug. Not seen it myself.

I searched for bugs on YouTube too. FIFA10 keeper bugs also exist.

I tried the WE2010 demo and, I must admit, I did have a fair bit of fun with it - moreso than the PES 2010 demo (although I don't know if it's because I tried the 360 version of that - PES has always felt more at home to me with a Dual Shock). It seemed a little more responsive than the PES demo, and I found it to have a distinctly enjoyable arcadey feel to it; if this is representative of final PES code, then it should suit itself well enough to competitive local multiplayer matches, particularly among ardent PES fans.

I didn't really notice the 360 degree dribbling much - it all seemed very digital still - and I still can't agree with anyone who says the ball physics are remotely realistic (there's a noticeable elastic band snapping effect when pulling the ball about and moments of hyper-gravity dragging it down towards the ground during lifted knocks). The animations are archaic to say the least and sit awkwardly amongst the updated visuals - that god-awful dribbling animation looked terrible on PS2 and looks even worse with the new fancy player models.

Still, the gameplay's quick and slick and threading passes between opponents is satisfying; the shooting in particular has a nice solid impact to it.

Alas, I can't help but feel it's the "next-gen" PES we should've had 2-3 years ago and that the game should've evolved further by now. It's a different style of football to FIFA and so comparing like-for-like is perhaps a little unfair - no one would think to compare Daytona USA with Gran Turismo or UFC with SFIV.

What isn't unfair, however, is comparing and contrasting the near-stagnantation of this series with the unfathomable progress FIFA has seen in the past 2-3 years - it saddens me to think that, if Seabass hadn't rested on his laurels, this years PES might've been unimaginably amazing.

I'll buy WE instead of PES this year as I love the Japanese commentary!

I just wish they'd include the J-League teams as they have the license.
