Been playing this demo quite a bit over the weekend after hammering the FIFA one for a week or so.

I have to say it.... I like them both (shock).

PES seems to be more vibrant graphically with better player
models, more punchy sound effects and generally a louder more in
your face experience. It's also noticeably more HD crisp than previous versions. It's all good but where it fails to engage is in the controls, the players still seem to be on rails and it feels even more jarring when you play this straight after using the 360 control in FIFA. It's saving grace is it's still fun and feels great when you score.

I think I still prefer FIFA as a whole experience but the demo here has convinced me not to rule out buying PES as well. The deciding factor will still be down to whether konami can deliver a decent online code this time. If not Ill probably pass on this altogether, shame.

Leon I often enjoy your posts but i have to admit i did laugh at this!

The visuals are vastly superior to what has gone before. The pitch looks far more realistic and everything has a true HD quality to it. Most important is the smoothness of the game - which is very slick and everything moves at a good pace without glitches and no clunkiness.

After realising that Konami have delivered something extra special, I decided to download Fifa10 for comparison. Fifa10 is the same old Fifa: poor framerate, clunkiness all the time, and very unsatisfying to play.

If you want your football game to have a SkySports theme, then buy FIFA10. If you want a proper, quality football experience, buy PES2010.

Fifa has a crap framerate - and feels very clunky. The way the graphic engine struggles and has a nauseating shakiness to everything, renders the whole experience a joke. PES2010 is the game for people who put quality over superficial niceties. I must say that PES2010 has a much better engine - and the framerate is very good. FIFA only has the SkySports look and commentators going for it; which isn't something that should make it a big seller, but some people think that sort of thing is more important than the actual gameplay component of a football game.

I'm only going to post my thoughts in one thread, but having played both demos now...

I feel both games have their positives and their flaws. PES controls better for me, it was more intuitive to pull off certain moves, string things together, get scoring opportunities, take shots and make the ball do what I wanted it to do. On the other hand some of the defending was atrocious and the through-balls occasionally suspect.

FIFA was somewhat the opposite. I found it harder to put plays together and keep the ball from not constantly doing conversion attempts when shooting, but the marking and defending was better, players could pass and through ball better. Both games seemed to have a little input-to-action lag on them though, or maybe that's just me.

Which one I buy, if I buy either... still not decided yet. Probably play both with my brother and see what he thinks...

Wrong year, but since it's the en-vogue thing to do nowadays thought I'd troll this thread with this image anyway...

Is trolling only allowed in the FIFA thread then?

Yes. Keep in the dog'ead FIFA thread.

People still like PES, get the fook over it, pal.

Sorry, was I having a go at the game?

Oh no, that's right, that was the FIFA thread again!

                    Whatever. Deal.

No let's be civilized and constructive. Let opinions be expressed without a dog'ead popping in to let everyone know "FIFA is the best" and "PES can't possibly be any good at all".

                    Let's chant! Oooh-oooh!

                    Let's FIFA.

I don't agree with the behaviour of a person in the FIFA thread. Why should I have to see the piss leak into this perfectly good thread?

                    Let's dance!

Why coz I like PES am I a fanboy? What's wrong, Chikita?

I thought it was a funny jpeg, didn't mean to upset you.

Always thought you were up for a bit of banter, thought you'd find it funny, I was wrong.

You were wrong, I'm gonna get you, lad!

                        See you on the pitch.

Really? The keepers are utterly awful in the PES demo but are saving practically everything (reachable) in WE. Maybe I've just been unlucky in seeing the worst of them in PES but I've done over a dozen matches on each and the difference is pretty clear....

The PES demo is dire but the WE demo is a million times better. Possibly still not enough to convince me to pick it up though and this would be the first time I'd missed out on a WE/PES since WE4 got me interested in the series.

I've said it many times before and I'll say it again. JLWE10 in HD is all we need. That game was perfect!

You guys might be right. There's an article on PESGAming from a guy who has final code. He also did a Q&A in their forums...

He says the WE2010 demo is new code and just like final code.

Ok. The games ‘Winning Eleven 2010′ and ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 2010′ are exactly the same.
[Edit. The Winning Eleven demo is very representative of Pes 2010's final gameplay, and although there may be a few bugs in the demo, I noticed no bugs in the finished game. By 'final code' I mean that the WE 2010 demo is what you can expect from Pes 2010.]

Well I'll be happy with that, the WE demo fixed my only real complaint (awful goalies) with the game. As far as the somewhat unresponsivness of the controls go I think it's more of a case of having to play the game differently than the controls actually being the problem. You can't run around with the sprint button held down all the time like before but learn that you'll only get a responsive pass if the ball is properly at your feet. I worry that alot of people won't 'get' this and be put off the game but we'll see...

Can't wait for the full game now and have some decent length matches - 5mins demo matches are over before I've even gotten into them.
