And if the answer to this is right:

What difficulty is the online set at? 2009 was at beginner AI which totally destroyed the defending online, what is it here?
Really didn't think that difficulty made a difference in multiplayer. Difficulty level is set to Regular on ranked matches.

So far, I haven't see the AI move out of positions silly style. Providing you haven't set up some ultra pressure tactics that is.

Creating a chance on goal can be hard graft.

Has anyone played BOTH the PC version and the 360 version?

I've been playing the PC demo and loving it.

Since that hasn't turned up yet, I've rented the 360 version this morning from a local shop.

In my opinon, the 360 and PC versions are very, very different.

For me, the PC version 'feels' like PES.

The 360 version feels like some arcade hack job. The pace of it is ridiculous, it is just so fast.

Playing the PC demo, I'm playing on the hardest setting - everything is fine. I've really only played on LIVE this morning with difficulty set to 'regular', the Goalkeepers being virtually no existant. It is just so easy to score (or be scored against!), it crippling my enjoyment of the game that whenever someone gets close the box, they can shoot and score. It's not even like PES5 with the edge of the box shots, it's just shots from anywhere with deadly accuracy. Handling of GKs is also poor. It's totally ruining online. I assume it will be like this on the PC too?

I'll admit that I am a d-pad player, always have been and always will be with PES. But the 360 pad is not designed for prolonged d-pad usage so I'm having to use the stick. I am finding the control very poor. Why is it that I can control the players in FIFA (with the stick) with supreme precision yet in PES I'm all over the place. I feel like a noob with it yet I've been playing literally all my life.

Also, the balls behaves like a ping pong ball. It bounces back and forth of players with no sense of weight. It's terrible.

I really enjoyed the PC demo so was expecting the same, but sorry to say that after a week playing FIFA on the 360 - if you have a 360, get FIFA. It is a much, much better representation of football and overall, a better game. I'm just hoping PES on the PC hasn't been tweaked to be in line with the 360 version.

Positive notes are: menu system is great much better than FIFA, and the graphics (not really animations though - I mean likenesses, textures overall look of the game). Online system is also much better and easy to use. All of which is incredibly ironic considering these are the areas that PES have traditionally struggled in.

Just a bit shocked, but still want game. GT: ijkkdd.

Legends online is lots of fun. Especially with friends. Like co-op arcade footy. Trying to get big combo scores. Love it. We need to have a foursome on here.

Loving this, upped the difficulty and still managing to score goals, although I am having to work alot harder to creat the space and chances that are needed.

I have joined the community Hoolak

            Good stuff, Mike.

By the way, WENB are releasing their Option File for PS3 at midnight tonight. They were going to wait for a transfer update, which they thought would be released today.

I look forward to the OF, but not the copying onto my PS3 HDD

Great stuff, will be grabbing that when it goes live. First person to see it post the link up for the others

WENB Option File delayed until 5pm tomorrow. Sounds like it'll be worth the wait...

We were banking on it being released for launch, anything else IMO is a step backwards. But instead of crying about it, our OF creator Sean (01srainey) has been working around the clock to correct things we were going to ignore.
Thats the main reason the OF missed todays expected launch, but you’ll be pleased to know Sean has got LOADS done for launch tomorrow.
                • All club teams with correct emblems
                • All teams (International and Club) with licensed kits
                • All club teams with correct team names
                • All fake players in the game with real names (excludes unlockable players)
                • Most transfers up-to-date, might be some minor ones missing
                • Bayern Munich, Wolfsburg and Stuttgart created
                • Bundesliga base created (team names/kits) – To give editors a head start once unlockable players are unlocked
All of the above will be included in the option file, released tomorrow at 5pm UK time. Sean will update you throughout the day to let you know how things are going. We’ll release on a variety of download sites, complete with an easy-to-use guide for all beginners.

How big will the file be and are they easy to install? I'm going to pick up the PS3 version tomorrow.

The files shouldn't be too big. Several mb or something.

You just have to copy the file structure onto a usb memory stick or any removeable media that'll go into your PS3. Then the boring bit of copying each file over individually. Last time I checked I think you still have to select a file and press Triangle button and choose Copy for every file. Unless a firmware update has added a multiple copy function.

                    It's easy.

Right then. I've played a couple of friendly international matches and have scored two hat-tricks with Heskey...

My favourite celebration so far is when he runs in a single direction by himself for about ten seconds, a slightly-too-near close-up of his face showing him muttering something-or-other as if possessed by some Uroboros voodoo. It's brilliantly sinister.

So much of this game is second-rate; the animation is really bad in places (it's still plagued by the feet not completing a proper run cycle when triggering kicks, having them do some kind of bizarrely rapid triple-hop before swinging the leg back to kick), it's ridiculously rapid and the players look tiny on the pitch - it's like watching a load of midgets running about in fast-forward.

                        However!

It is very good fun - the one-touch passing is quality, making stringing together moves terribly satisfying; I've already scored possibly the best goal I've ever scored in a football game with some zone-like first-time passing, crossing, chesting-down-to-a-team-mate-who-struck-it-with-a-volley-into-the-top-corner action. That kind of stuff is what would make multiplayer sessions a riot.

Plus, that Heskey celebration has made me laugh twice now.

In terms of overall quality and how the game of football is represented, it's frankly not in the same league as FIFA 10, but that doesn't matter - for some reason I can see myself picking this up for a quick kick-about in nine months' time whilst FIFA gathers dust. Whereas FIFA excels at slow-burning, quality gameplay when the effort's put in, PES2010 seems to condense a huge amount of drama into its brief matches, offering extremely quick-fix satisfaction.

In my mind, FIFA10 is football. PES2010 is a Michael Bay film about football. And when my FIFA skills are rusty in a few months I'll be grateful for PES2010's freely-flowing thrills.
